Read the recent (bad) reviews on TripAdvisor, you'll read this bar is not tourist friendly. This is true. The staff here genuinely do not like tourists, we left thinking they have some sort of 'game' to target tourists. As an example - previous reviews talk of some guests (tourists) being told they can't sit outside, when others can. The service fee in Rome can be confusing to some tourists, and staff at this bar try to illegally exploit this with a process to rip off tourists - particularly English/American. For clarity - The Regional Law No. 21, dated November 29, 2006, Article 16, paragraph 3, is clear:” If the meal or drink is served at the table, the price list has to be made available to customers before ordering and must show clearly any eventual service charge. It is also forbidden to apply any additional cost for the coperto (cover charge)”.
This bar will allow you to buy your drink at one stand, go to collect it yourself, take your drink to any table yourself. After a while one of the staff claim you owe a "service charge" (er, for what?! this wasn't communicated and you didn't provide a service other than take my money) and to pay the difference ($5) - of course, if you oblige they won't write you a receipt for this.
Avoid, there's plenty of other...

As soon as we asked if we could order in English and all we got back was an eye roll. She then proceeded to tell us we had to pay before we got anything. The food was actually ok, but the next problem was she dropped two slices off my bruschettas, she said she was sorry and that she would replace them and then we never got another waiter come back to our table for our whole stay. Incredibly rude to make someone pay, drop some of it, say you will replace it and then not come back. Needless to say we did not get more drinks, get offered a dessert or leave a tip, because we didn’t get the chance to lol
Meanwhile the locals next to us got checked in on, offered more drinks and got to go inside to pay at the end. We gave then another chance the following day and were greeted with the same Aristide attitude.

Read moreWe arrived with my friends around 19.00 for Aperitivo. The waitress took the order and made us pay. At 21:00 we still did not have food but only our drinks. She told us we can choose 9€ menu individually to have a free drink + bruschetta, fried potatos, pizza biancha and there was an option to take common menu with free drinks + formaggio, prosciutto and pasta but in the middle of the table. we choose 9 euro menu.
At 21:00, we asked from a waitress where our food is? She said, oh, "we've run out of food" and you paid 9 euros only for a drink and we give u 1 box of fried potatos from us as a "present"!
It was the unique bad ever situation I have ever been! Then she brought just a pizza of 4 pieces for 5 of us!
If there is possibility to put a 0 star...
