This place is a modern dry market place comprises of many different stalls. This is stall number 15. Difficult to miss, you'll always see a crowd at any one time.
System is very organized, get a number, choose a panini sandwich, numbered 1 to 12 on the white menu board above head, and the chef will prepare for you.
Tried number 1, panini cut opened, soak the inside with slow cooked beef juice, generously stuffed the sandwich with a super tender beef and what I think is soaked spinach. The sandwich is cleverly served in a clear plastic, thoughtfully wrapped over with two thick serviettes, to get you prepared for the juicy goodness. The sandwich can be imagined it's super juicy and flavourful. Will try other flavours next time.
Bottle beer available for only €1.50. Plenty of tables available at the...
Read moreFirst off, the Testaccio Market is awesome, everyone in Rome should venture over. Authentic Market, no tourists around. We went to Mordi e Vai around noon, no line or anything. They have tons to choose from, i ordered the veal, arugula and tomato panino, while my wife ordered the carciofi (artichoke) and parmigiano panino. Very reasonably priced, 8 Euros for two sandwiches. After finishing our paninos, we were about to leave when i turned around and went to get another sandwich. This time i tried the trippa (tripe). Again, so much flavor and so tender. If you are in Rome, make sure you take the time to visit this place. These guys are...
Read moreThe legendary status of this sandwich stand are true and well deserved! This was one of the street foods I was most looking forward to trying and they did not disappoint! As I only have limited space in my stomach, I ordered their classic Allesso di Scottona beef and chicory sandwich and it was truly delicious. The beef was soft and succulent and while balanced with the sauteed chicory and the bun that was pre-soaked in some of the juices was soft and rich but not soggy. Clearly there is a master at work making these delicious Roman sandwiches! For sure I will be back to try some more next time...
