Perilli al Flaminio — Restaurant in Rome

If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would!! This place was located one block from our hotel after passing it several times, we decided to check them out. The menu had alot of items on it so we all found something of interest. My friend ordered a Salad that had mushrooms in it, with a zesty lemon dressing. We all tried it, being in a new place we have been trying each others food since day one of our trip. It wasnt until my friend was halfway through her salad that she realized the mushrooms had maggots coming out of them. When she dropped her fork, we all took a look at her plate and the salad had maggots crawling through out. Absolutely disgusted, my friend took her plate to the inside, where the staff did not seem bothered by the issue. Well all cancelled our food and the manager did not let us pay for the food we already ordered. One could ask, how did we not see the maggots right away, well to be honest it was night time and there was minimal lighting. As well as the fact that we weren't examining the salad. When my friend picked up a piece to joke about how much she loves mushrooms is when she noticed the maggots. We will never eat here, EVER!! And If you do! Please! Please! Check your food!! Unfortunately my friend made herself throw up to get the salad out. But fortunately she did not get sick, nor any of us.

I wish the staff did more to understand how bad this is and I hope they take better caution checking the food well before it goes out to table.

Again, please be cautious if you choose to eat her. But I advise...

We were looking for somewhere to eat close to our hotel. The restaurant was empty at 8.15pm. A man who we thought was a diner was actually the the owner Andre. He showed us to a table and started to serve us. His manner was quite poor. He gave us a bowl of bread which we assumed was complimentary. It wasn't!! We ordered carbonara which consisted of penne pasta and a few token bits of pork scratching. A steak with porcini mushrooms and grilled squid. The steak was well cooked, very tender and tasty and the mushrooms complimented it well. The grilled squid seemed to have been forgotten and we had to remind Andre of our order. The squid was over cooked and rubbery with no side salad or vegetables (just squid) there was no lemon or other sauce to cut through the bland taste and texture. The presentation was poor, the service was poor although Andre brightened up as some Italian diners arrived. There was a marked difference to how he treated the tourists and the locals. Fantastic dinner at this classic Roman trattoria! Recently we had such a nice dinner here! As a starter we ordered parma ham with mozzarella, and it was absolutely delicious, also the supplì and crocchette were crispy and full of flavour. The tagliata with porcini was tender and rich, while the meatballs with mashed potatoes felt like true Italian comfort food.
