Our last dinner in Rome and my wife wanted seafood. We already tried the restaurants around Hotel Impero and Piazza Navona which were all very good but that night we wanted to walk to a great seafood dinner. And this was the right place to be. Waiters were friendly, overly energetic, almost a show of it's own, a fitting sight to the outdoor sitting area we preferred. There was a street performer who serenaded the outdoor dining area with his accordion for a few euros, of course. The customers varied, a lone guy having a 4 course dinner and wine on his own, a large 3 generation family, and 4 other couples like us. the inside of the restaurant was also packed Our waiter, was very attentive and positive with his suggestions, explaining the dishes until we made our selections. He would once in a while sing while frenetically walking back to the restaurant. Our meal started with mussels in wine sauce, served with very thin bread that obviously just came out of the oven. Very good, not a drop of broth was left when we finished it, definitely a good sign of things to come. I can't help but watch as other tables orders come, all looking excellent and people eating them with gusto. For our main meal, my wife had beautiful broiled prawns with some type of crisp baked flat bread brushed with herbed olive oil, and I had the mixed seafood pasta that had mussels, small clams, squid and a prawn, perfect! For our dessert, a delectable tiramisu finished with a cup of espresso. With our meal done and the bill paid, we stood getting ready to leave, our waiter flew towards us and insisted that we should remain seated until he brings us limoncello to properly finish our meal and aid with digestion. My wife and I initially refused, but he pleaded for our sakes that we take his offer. After reflecting on all the exacting suggestions he gave us to our superb dinner, of course, we did. I really wish I took pictures but we were having a great meal on the...
Read moreWe initially went to Trattoria Cecio but they litterally kicked us out with such attitude because we did not reserve ( we did not know we had to) . They couldve just said sorry we're full but no, we were litterally told to get out of their way and wait outside and told a second later they dont have space for us again with a very rude tone. We then went to Babbos not knowing what to expect and wow Thank God Cecio did not accept us because we wouldve missed Babbos who is much better. Restaurant was full, we had no reservation but they managed to find a table for us quickly, they were very welcoming and fun people. Not like the others who kicked us out rudely. Food was delicious!!!! Had the eggplant pizza ( amazing!!) Caccio e pepe pasta ( very good) and tiramisu (very good and huge portion), drinks were good too. Waiters were so pleasant, funny, professional and amazing service! We took some food for take out and they carefully packed it for us. Overall they were very attentionate and welcoming. I recommand and Will be going back when im back to Roma. Other restaurants should take example from Babbo's thats how you keep...
Read moreWaited an hour for Tiramisu, while 3 separate tables beside me ordered deserts, including Tiramisu, and received their dish within 5 minutes. On asking the waitress for the progress all I hear is "it's coming" while continuing to serve other deserts. Eventually the Tiramisu arrived with a sip of wine. I asked for the bill from the waiter, she continued to stand around that eventually a different waiter came to me and asked what I'm waiting for since I'm sitting for so long. When she saw him asking, she quickly fetched the bill. Upon leaving the restaurant I spoke to the manager to notify him of the appalling service, to which he responded that it was busy and it happens, nothing we can do about it. At this stage the waitress shows up and starts accusing me of getting her into trouble with the manager and that it doesn't help to complain because the dinner is over and that the sip of wine makes it okay to wait an hour for the desert and another long wait for the bill. The rudeness of the waitress and the manager who doesn't seem to care about customer service leaves a sour taste after a tremendous bruschette and...
