The first impression was positive ; the young Chinese lady (I think she is the owner) speaks English and is very friendly and they provide free wifi (almost never the case in Rome).
The toilets are clean.
The hot and sour soup came with tofu and is tasty but the best dish was the fried aubergine.
The young lady takes the orders but she does not bring any dishes to the table nor picks up any dishes nor wipes the tables.
All tasks mentioned above are done by a very busy Bangladeshi (or Indian) young man.
He brought the main dishes literally a minute after I got the soup which isn't great.
The shock came when he brought the first main dish.
He was carrying the plate on one hand and something else on the other hand.
He was holding the plate in such a way that the sauce was covering half of his finger.
The next shock came a minute later when he brought the other main dish.
Again he carried it in a way that one of his fingers were smothered with the sauce and food.
I know that when I eat in a restaurant I take a risk because I can't see what goes on in the kitchen but such a blatant violation of hygiene is rare and unacceptable.
I refrained from complaining because the restaurant is very narrow and so it is impossible for a single employee who wipes tables, serves food and stacks drinks on the fridge etc. to carry a tray.
It is also unlikely they will replace the plates with larger ones because there won't be enough space at the table.
The only solution is for the young Chinese lady to be proactive and help in waitressing so her worker can carry plates without spreading germs...

I recently had a wonderful dining experience at this Chinese restaurant, where both the food and service were outstanding.
We started with a crab meat and asparagus soup. It was light yet full of flavour, with the sweetness of crab blending perfectly with the delicate taste of asparagus — a simple but elegant dish that set the tone for the meal.
The stir-fried water spinach (空心菜) was another highlight. Cooked with garlic, it was fresh, vibrant, and perfectly seasoned — a great example of how simple ingredients can shine when done right.
For mains, we tried the steamed chicken with soy sauce and spring onions, which was tender, juicy, and full of natural flavour. The Mapo tofu brought a satisfying contrast with its spicy, umami-packed sauce and silky tofu — rich, warming, and perfectly balanced. The egg fried rice with ham and peas was light, fluffy, and a perfect accompaniment to the mains.
Dessert was a real treat. The fried toffee apple with ice cream was heavenly — the apples were coated in a crunchy caramelised shell, paired with cool, creamy vanilla ice cream, making every bite indulgent yet refreshing.
Service was friendly and attentive throughout. The staff made us feel welcome and ensured everything arrived hot and perfectly timed.
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) A fantastic spot for authentic Chinese dishes that taste home-cooked but with restaurant finesse. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreWe tried this restaurant due to the overwhelmingly excellent reviews by other customers. I was very excited to try the food as my stomach hasn't been agreeing with the Italian food.
As Singaporeans, we were very, very disappointed in the food! I'm not sure if the chef has changed or the other patrons have never had good Chinese food... :( Or perhaps we have ordered the wrong dishes, I'm not sure. Please come to Singapore or Malaysia & try our "zichar" or 煮炒 :)
We ordered the pineapple fried rice which looked nothing like the picture or anything like pineapple fried rice in general. It tasted like normal egg fried rice with pieces of shrimp & pineapples. I can cook this at home too lol.
The kungpao chicken is nothing like the picture or its namesake as well! Where are the cashew nuts, where's the chilli? The lettuce with oyster sauce also has no oyster sauce in it. The sauces were very gooey, like there's a lot of cornflour added. It seemed like they are skimping on the essential ingredients & ended up cooking food that is nothing like what we expected.
However, the prices are reasonable (very cheap for Rome prices) & the service was great. There was also a cute cat, Nero, roaming around at the entrance. Will not recommend this place - but if you're really homesick you can just order...
