I have been at the demetra hotel two times in my life. The first time in October of 2022, I went with my mother. We took one room, we stayed for two nights. Everything went ok, the hotel was well placed if you like to walk around, close to the train station. The rooms comfortable enough. This year I took my mother (now 80 years old) on an Italian trip with her two grandchildren. Since past experience was good enough and she liked the hotel we booked 2 rooms for three nights. On arrival she asked at the reception which one of the two rooms was better. The clerk at the reception was clueless, she asked the cleaning lady, she said 203. So there she went. We went to see Rome. At the afternoon she realized that she left the window open, and feared the room would be too cold on arrival. We called the hotel, asked for the window at her room to be closed, they said “yes, no problem”. We got back to the hotel about 8pm. The window at her room was still open. She wanted to have a shower. The water was lukewarm at best. She called reception and told them about the water. The first reply she got was “the water at the hotel is not very hot”. No one went to check no one went to offer any help. My niece took a cold shower. By the time my mother tried again the shift at the reception had changed, the guy at the front desk went to her room and did his best, he was the only one polite with a real desire to help in spite of not understanding what to do. He was the only employee at the hotel. The hotel is completely understaffed and runs on a skeleton crew. The next morning I went to the front desk and asked for the problem to be fixed or change the room. The girl said “yes sir, no problem” We went away and got back around 20pm. Different girl at the reception. We asked if the problem was fixed. She said no, are you going to give her a new room? “No, we are fully booked today” plus a lousy excuse, “There’s nothing I can do, if you want you can get another hotel and go, then you can ask for a refund through you agent” Choosing and moving to another hotel at night with an elderly woman, specially at the state of distress she was at the moment was no option. Finally the receptionist assured us that they will have a new room by tomorrow for her. She had to take a bath at my room, I was fully stressed, had a lousy night. Next morning was lost getting everything packed and ready to be moved. The new room was nice, but on the lower floor, demetra hotel is full of stairs, she lost her bearing there sometimes. Keep in mind that depending on your time of arrival you will get little to none assistance with your luggage. In the morning of February 21st I wrote a letter to the manager/owner that is never to be seen on premises. Explaining my experience on the hotel. As of the time of writing I got no reply. Through this whole ordeal no one ever told me “we are really sorry for your inconvenience” or anything of the like. They kept giving excuses and explanations like a 4 grade kid that “the dog ate his homework” There are plenty of nice hotels in the same price range and location in Rome. Do yourself a favor, and choose...
Read moreI recently stayed at Demetra Hotel Rome, first week of October 2023. Not what we expected from a 4 star hotel! No lobby, front desk is located on the second floor of a not so clean building. The rooms are all located 1flight up. The pictures of this "hotel" is not showing you the actual hotel, its the outside building which accommodates another not so wonderful hotel as well as commercial renters. The staircase in the pics that you see is not the actual hotel, its the stairs in the building. The building across the street outside our window was a college exchange dorm for foreign kids. The streets outside our window were filled with tons of trash every day!! Here's the issues we found with this hotel upon check in: checked my sheets and bed mattress cover. They were filled with other peoples hair as well as 2 dead bed bugs. The bottom sheet had a yellow soiled spot. Since it was late, the front desk did nothing about the disgusting sheets. I had to physically pick the hairs and dead bugs with my tweezers!!! The rooms photograph nicely but are not clean. The bathroom did not even have a toilet paper holder so the toilet paper was on the dirty floor of the bathroom at all times. The shower glass doors were not large enough to cover the water that was spilling all over the bathroom when we showered. There was a flood in the bathroom every morning after we showered. The A/C is controlled on the front desk's computer. First couple of nights we were only able to turn the A/C to 20 C and during the night, they turn it off to save energy. The days and nights while we were there were very hot and every time we returned to the room the A/C was off. I had to tell the front desk to turn on the A/C. Absolutely uncalled for!!!! Breakfast was not good at all. The assortment was minimal and was not hotel quality. If your smart, don't stay here at Demetra Hotel Roma. We tried to get another hotel room(up to 880 Euros per night) for the balance of our trip but all hotels...
Read moreWe stayed in the Demetra Hotel in Sept this year. The hotel is in a perfect location: 10 minute walk from the main rail terminus in Rome (easy, cheap and quick Leonardo Express journey from airport to centre of Rome). All staff without exception, reception, housekeeping, breakfast etc were welcoming, friendly, helpful, professional and efficient. The rooms and all area on the Demetra were spotless, our rooms were cleaned and serviced daily. The bathrooms were spacious with good water pressure and hot water for showers. A safe in the room with tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer and fridge were also a welcome find in the room. Breakfast was excellent with good choice and plenty of freshly cooked, prepared dishes including fruit and pastries etc. Good coffee and tea options. We would not hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Rome, a beautiful city to explore on foot. The hotel is near the sightseeing bus routes, there is a small supermarket next door and a good bar/cafe/restaurant two minutes away. Although centrally located with these good amenities next door, the rooms were quiet and a good nights sleep was guaranteed. Many thanks for an excellent stay to everyone in the Demetra Hotel, we will certainly return and can highly recommend a stay here. Thank you,...
