My friend asked for a normal portion of “large shrimps”, they brought him 600+ grams of it, charged him €65 for it! So a normal fish portion according to the restaurant was 600g!!! Seems like they tried take advantage of some tourists… Also it was identical to lobster, which they forgot to mention, and if we knew, we wouldn’t order because 80% of it was carcass and it needed a lot of effort to take the meat out,of course… Pasta with sea bass and prawns had probably 2g of sea bass and 3 prawns! Really infuriating… Don’t go, avoid at all costs!! ❌❌❌ EDIT AFTER THE REPLY BELOW: I see that you very conveniently avoided the pasta comment, about the "pasta with seabass and shrimp" didn't have more than a couple of grams of seabass and 3 shrimps (you can see it in my photo) So, let me get this right.. for the dishes that you don't charge by the weight, you are very cheap in your portions (ie the seabass/shrimp pasta) BUT WHEN YOU CHARGE BY THE WEIGHT, then your "normal" portion is 600 grams??? 🤔 So if I ordered the amberjack steak or a meat steak, the portion would be 300-600g? I doubt it would be more than 100-150g, which is the normal restaurant portions, but I dare you to tell us honestly: how much is the rough weight of your fish and meat steaks??? And you want to call yourself professionals?? You are a joke people! And you should say bye bye to your customers!! 😂 No wonder you were half-empty on the Sunday night that everything else we tried in Rome was fully booked! 😂

Beautiful interiors, glass floor revealing ruins from Roman Empire era. That’s pretty much everything good I will say. Dinner for my wife’s birthday started really bad. Waiter just throw menus on the table while passing by, so rude. We ordered starters, but shortly after they were delivered we decided to cancel our mains. Food was super blunt, no flavours and poorly presented: No questions were asked while full plates with starters were collected from our table. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME, there is plenty of fantastic restaurants near by.

I have amended my review to leave a more accurate and informative description of our visit.

We went to Rome for a weekend, and Consolini had good reviews, it was a special occasion so I decided to book.

We booked, never got a confirmation that our table was… we arrived at the restaurant and climbed 3 flights of stairs before we were greeted by anyone.

We were then told to wait while they laid the table and then proceeded to sit us on a service table in the corner by the till.. the restaurant itself was highly lacking in atmosphere, and we were told to order as the kitchen was closing.. this was my first warning that the experience may not be all that great.

We ordered our starters and wine, the bread that came with our mozzarella and ham was terrible, and zero effort on the presentation, honestly I’ve never seen such a poor effort in presentation.

We asked for olive oil and salt.. the waiter brings an empty olive oil… I mean dear lord this isn’t getting any better, we cancelled our mains and took our wine to a seating area upstairs, only to find there was a beautiful seating area up there, unfortunately we had the service table downstairs…

The owner has now replied, which is pretty much a good way to show he has, but not bothered understanding any problems.

We ate in so many more lovely places during our stay, so avoid this place.. AVOID

Ristorante Cotto was fantastic! We went there for wine and nibbles before leaving to have dinner here.. wish we had stayed there.

Definitely try...

I organized my wedding dinner at the restaurant on June 5th, 2025. That evening fulfilled all our expectations. Our guests will cherish the memory of that day for a long time, and I am deeply grateful that the restaurant exceeded our hopes. Above all, the exceptional service stood out; it was evident how much effort the gentleman waiter put into ensuring our satisfaction. He was courteous, attentive to our needs, and despite language barriers, we managed to communicate effectively. His professionalism was truly remarkable. This man deserves the highest praise possible, and in Italy, we have not experienced better service elsewhere. The cuisine was exquisite—delicious and perfectly prepared, with generous portions served elegantly. Every dish was a feast for the senses, with flavors reaching the highest level of excellence. The only drawback was the lack of phone contact and response to emails from the owners or the person responsible. I sincerely wish everyone to persevere and reserve this venue for their most important celebrations; ultimately, we succeeded through an Italian intermediary. The breathtaking view and panoramic terrace left a profound impression. The decorations were unnecessary, as the scent of flowers and grass wafted gracefully through the air, creating a natural, enchanting...
