I am a firm believer in the idea that the quality of service can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, my recent visit to giolittiwas a stark reminder of this belief, and not in a good way.
The situation worsened when I was attended to by a waiter named William. His demeanor was far from friendly or professional. He seemed disinterested, barely made eye contact, and his responses to my inquiries were curt and unhelpful.
The pinnacle of the poor service was when William raised his voice at our table. We had merely pointed out a mistake in our order, expecting a simple correction. Instead, we were met with an outburst that was not only shocking but also deeply embarrassing. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in any setting, let alone in a service-oriented business like an ice cream shop.
The ice cream, while decent, could not compensate for the appalling service. The shop was also out of several popular flavors, which seemed like a clear sign of poor management, especially during the summer season.
In a time where customer service should be a priority, the experience at giolitti was a major disappointment. The pleasure of enjoying a scoop of ice cream was completely overshadowed by the poor service and lack of respect for customers.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements. Until then, I would advise potential customers to consider other local ice cream shops where the service is as delightful as the ice...
Read moreWe went out to get ice cream with my young children, and I thought this ice cream shop would be a good experience. It was already 7:00 p.m. and when I went in, despite it being empty, no one came to serve us. I placed my order at the cashier myself. When we served ourselves and went to sit down to have coffee and ice cream with our children, the waiter asked us to get up and said we couldn't have the ice cream there (which was empty). I still insisted on paying any fee that there was and that he explain to me what was necessary to be able to have the ice cream in the store, but the waiter insisted that we leave. An ice cream shop that sends its customers (including) children to eat ice cream outside on the street (in temperatures of 8º). This ice cream shop is a joke. The dumbest and most ridiculous situation I've ever seen. We threw the ice cream away on the way out and were well served at the other ice cream shop,...
Read moreTried the much-hyped pistachio and chocolate gelato at Giolitti, but it was a disappointing experience on all fronts. The flavors were below average — lacking the richness and creaminess you’d expect from a place with such a reputation. It honestly left me wondering what the hype is all about.
What made it worse was the staff’s attitude. The person handing over the gelato was incredibly rude and dismissive. It’s one thing for the product to fall short, but when there’s a complete lack of basic courtesy toward customers, it really ruins the experience.
I would never return to a place that doesn’t respect its guests — let alone offer the warmth and kindness that should come with any food experience. Very disappointing overall. Would not...
