Given that it's located in the area between Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navonna, one would expect the place to be a bit of a 'tourist trap' - with maybe higher prices, common food and possibly smaller portions than average. So, despite keeping expectations low, we were very disappointed.
Pizza: not awful but surely not good. We got one with mozarella di bufalla, crudo and rucolla. Ingredients were generally decent but the tomato sauce was not appropriate for pizza (actually was a bit of an Arrabiata sauce spread on the dough) and the mozarella had not been near a 'buffala' in its life. Whatever.
Prosecco: the waiter brought a warm bottle (!)
The mixed grill for 2 persons was small in size and the meat was literally raw, especially the pork (the platter includes a bit of pork, lamb chops, veal and chicken, plus exactly 4 small slices of roasted potatoes). We basically left the pork on the plate because it was inedible by any standards. At the end of the meal we told the waiter that we were unhappy with this, and the only response was that we should have called him and he would have asked the kitchen to cook it a bit more (which would have meant that some people at the table would eat and others would watch, which was exactly what we wanted to avoid).
I am sorry but for a restaurant that charges 40 Eur / portion, asking beforehand what the client expects, and making sure you don't serve bloody, totally uncooked food, should be a minimum standard.
Ps: the waiter actually tried to be nice and we appreciated his attitude. But he had no idea, for example, of what he was serving, in particular in terms of wine. Which again seems...
Read moreOur waiter added a 20% service charge without our permission. When I asked him why the total charge was over $15 more than the bill, the waiter replied that the service fee wasn’t included. The waiter kept pressing me about what service percentage I would agree to and then acted astounded when I said 0% and would only pay what was required or mandatory. I do not appreciate being taken advantage of and them attempting to sneak by additional charges that were never disclosed. Pay attention to your bill.
Now onto their food. This was the worst meal we have had during our week long stay in Rome. We should have left when the table next to us asked for their salad to be taken off the bill because they found it inedible. My gnocchi was terrible, I have had better at fast food Italian restaurants in the US. My husband, who will eat ANYTHING, could not even...
Read moreExcellent restaurant along the Corso. Pasta is made in house so it’s fresh and so are all other ingredients used.
The restaurant is on a busy side street so if you happen to eat outside be prepared to have a fully interrupted dinner experience. People walking by, an accordion player performing next to you, a man selling his goods at a table not far off, travelers bumping into your table from time to time as they walk the narrow lane…. If that’s your vibe, PERFECT!
If it’s not. Dine inside. Far more romantic.
Service was a bit slow when we ate which wasn’t ideal but the food made up for it.
Prices aren’t too crazy here either. Would come back for a quick bite for sure.
No gluten free options here. Lots of vegetarian options...
