Given the era in which the Pantheon was built, the building is an even more amazing piece of architectural perfection. From the perfect dome to the oculus to the several hundred ton columns built in and shipped from Egypt and then you compound it with the religious and cultural significance it has. The Pantheon is quite possibly my single most favorite Roman attraction!
Rumor has it they intend to start charging an entrance fee for the pantheon next year. Our local guides told us about this site. It was a quick visit as the lines was into the plaza. Take some time to see the Bernini statue of the elephant with the obelisk in the plaza behind the Pantheon.
Pantheon is undoubtedly a perfect marvelous masterpieces of Roman architecture.
The external rear structure looks like a cylindrical dome the porch portico is supported with huge columns and once a temple now turned into church. The Pantheon can be easily reached by walk from city center. Piazza Navona is another nearby attraction to be visited. The Dome interiors is really grand and people do offer prayers inside hence respect and silence is advised to tourists.
The interiors of the dome and the central hole through which the sunlight enters and throws it rays at day is a fascinating thing to see as the rays moves in the direction of the sun light circling the walls. It may be crowded some times and there will be restriction to entry based on the crowd inside.
There ll be touts haggling around do not entertain them. The surrounding ares of the pantheon is quiet touristic ,where bars , cafes restaurants are situated, in front of the pantheon temple there is a obelisk where people sit around on the pedestal platform. I spent about 45 mins to visit pantheon at noon hours, inside the pantheon its cool and there are benches inside where you can sit and admire and enjoy its interiors and architecture.
