Pros : Friendly waiters(but will charge you more than you ate), good atmosphere Cons : Food, price (again, charges you more than you eat!) DONT BE FOOLED BY THE RATE! DONT EAT NEAR PATHEON!
Food here is just terrible. All the other good things are just ruined by the terribleness of the food.
When you get your food, you will probably notice immediately that something is not right because the oil pastas look dry, with no emulsion at all. The bolonese pastas have really weird unsavory colors.
My oil past was indeed dry, bland, and not cooked enough. I had to pour olive oil and salt all over it many times to make it edible. The bolonese was extremely salty so we could barely eat it. It reminded me of failed pastas i made in my college years, or pastas from a badly rated cafeteria.
Caprese and fried clamari / shrimps were okay but they dont really take skills to make. They were not good but just mediocre.
After leaving the restaurant, we realized we got ripped off because the numbers didnt add up (id say somewhere about 10 euros in the total of 80euro bill. The recipet only showed the total price so we had to recount what we ate and do the math.) We were already upset with the experience there and didnt want to make the day worse by going back there and arguing.
Instead I will just curse them to live miserable lives every once in a while for ripping people off and want them to know that they are a disgrace of Rome.
Our near-perfect experiences in Italy were ruined by this particular restaurant on the last day of our week-long trip.
Whoever cooks the food there must be immediately fired. I am a guy with no background in cooking but i can cook a million times better.
A family sitting next to us also complained about how terrible the food were.
Dont be fooled by the rate and avoid this place at all cost.
Also dont forget this is a tourist area. If this place gets over a four-star rating. I'd assume that all the other restaurants must have similar problems. Check the bad reviews and see if they are acceptable to you.
I suggest you avoid this entire area and eat somewhere less touristy.
Id give this restaurant a 2 star, but rated it as a 1 star toower the...
Read moreFood was honestly nothing to write home about. The fried artichoke lacked flavour, and was just oily in general. The risotto porcini needed a lot more seasoning, we used an unusual amount of parmesan to give it flavour. Panna cotta was almost jelly like, if only I could upload a photo you'd see me pushing it with a spoon and it was flopping back and forth - I suspect the mixture was not mixed properly and the setting agent was very gritty in the mouth and concentrated at the base - the sauce however was good.
The main thing that lead to this bad review was how the waiter kept rushing us to order. He came to our table 3 times in the span of 10 minutes and the last time he walked away he did an eye-roll. We felt very pressured to hurry up and order, but he was like that to another table behind us as well. They kept asking for more time and he kept going back with a sarcastic tone "are we finally ready??". I felt bad for the table behind us honestly. And for such a service, we really did not want to leave a tip. But the guy would loudly make a comment (so tables next to you can hear clearly) that he does not care if you pay the bill or not, but the most important thing was the tip (he's easily recognisable he keeps making jokes with "making a call/taking a selfie" with the card machine - he does it to most tables). WOW. For someone so blatantly rude when ordering, he openly demands tips. And under pressure, (which you really shouldn't) we gave 5euros on top of this bill and he picked up the note and loudly says "this is what i live for" and he kisses the bank note.
Not even about customer service... just overall bad manners...
Read moreGreat service, great location and great food!
We walked past this place and couple of times and had a laugh with the lad on the door so we thought we would give it a try and we are glad we did.
The location is very close the square and position in the lane to experience the hustle and bustle of the laneway. The staff are fast, patient and attentive, impressive also with the number of languages they speak.
The menu whilst not extensive have the meals Rome is known for in the Bugatini and Carbonara core pastas along with a nice selection of other appetisers, first and second plates and desserts for all tastes.
We ordered the beef carpaccio for a starter then mains of the bean soup, lasagna, arrabiatta with penne, and the bugatini all’amattriciana.
The starter was seasoned to perfection with beautiful thinly sliced beef. Literally perfection on a plate.
The mains were also fantastic although the bean soup would be considered more of an “adult” rustic flavour over one that would be favourable to a tween looking for something lighter than the meals we ordered. The lasagna and arrabiatta were delicious and well prepared.
The bugatini is still my favourite of our holiday with a beautiful Smokey flavour mixed with the rich tomato base and seasoned beautifully. The speck and spaghetti were the icing on this amazing meal.
The service was great and ended the night well with a limone shot and some breads.
Most definitely worthwhile to stop...
