What I expected to be a fancy night for our last night in Rome ended up being a grueling experience. Upon arrival it took a while to be seated even though the restaurant was practically empty and we had reservations. That didn’t bother us too much, however the real issues ensued after being seated. First when the menus were presented they only gave 3/4 of us a menu. I was then looked in the eye by the waiter and told “here is the wine menu for you”. To baffled to respond as I don’t know what why I didn’t get an opportunity to see a menu I shared with my friend. Then after 45 minutes of waiting we received no service to take our orders. After multiple attempts to get a waiters attention and even sending a member of our party inside the restaurant to talk to a waiter, he showed him the time saying the kitchen was closed and that he would check to make sure we could order. After waiting several more minutes the same waiter said “sorry we forgot about you”. Funny how that happens while we were shouting “excuse me” anytime a waiter came into the garden. While getting our orders taken I specifically asked for a glass of wine like the others in my group. The waitress pretended not to hear me and I had to again ask for the wine. Finally when the food came after an hour and 30 minutes of waiting the food was beyond unsatisfactory. The steak with no sear and no flavor, 3 bites of gnocchi and a pasta I could have seemingly made at home— in America— with boxed pasta and sauce. Don’t waste your money on such an expensive meal. There are surely better restaurants that offer better food. I advise you not to eat here. I hope all the staff find God and he tells them how to run an...
Read morefor those with high expectations. a restaurant within the Kolbe Hotel Rome a unique restaurant not only for its location but also for many other aspects: Professionalism in the service is immediately perceived as soon as you arrive. We were greeted with courtesy and immediately assigned us the table we requested in the Garden. the interior room is elegant and refined, with brick ceilings that speak for themselves of the history of this building, but the beautiful thing is the internal garden planted with centuries-old olive trees, lemon and mandarin orange trees, a scent that you it makes you feel the smells of the countryside despite being right in the center of Rome. The restaurant manager informed us that they also have panoramic settings that are used for special events, weddings, cultural meetings, business lunches etc. we had the opportunity to go up to the terrace where we had a unique emotion, a breathtaking view of the Roman forum, the palatine and the rest of the archaeological area. this restaurant has exceeded all our optimal expectations. we will come back again and recommend it to...
Read moreAn outright terrible experience. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had in my life. We had a reservation at 9 PM and our waiter would not arrive until almost an hour and a half later to take our order. They also only gave three out of the four people in our group a menu, leaving the only black person out, staring at him and stating “here all you get is the wine menu”. When we went to complain about not having anyone take the order, the waiter responded with “oh sorry I think our kitchen is closed.” After an hour and a half of waiting?! Really?? On top of that, when the food did actually arrive it was horrible. Horrible steak. No sear , no flavor, I asked for a medium rare, and they gave me a barely cooked steak. This was supposed to be a nice meal for our family, but ended up being cruise-quality food. Every other person who got a dish got three bites of pasta on a plate for €25. All of it sucked. And not to mention the swarm of bugs around the dining table. Please, please spare yourself the time and the money and avoid...
