Il Sasso di Camilla Politi e Marco Cioni S.A.S. — Restaurant in Siena

We ate lunch here on a very quiet Monday, we asked for two pizzas to be shared amongst 6 of us (we weren't particularly hungry and have found the size of pizza to be enormous in most places). Unusually we were told no, we had to order one pizza each and the sizes are medium, not too big. The waitress went to get our drinks and another waiter told us the pizza was a good size and yes we could share. We decided to get three between us. The pizza was good, the base was not as stretched as other places, so not such a thin crust - they were approx 30cm diameter. The three were all tasty. We were certainly glad we didn't order one each.

Service charge was €2.50 each which is pretty steep. The chap out the front was smoking a cigar and the smoke smell wafted into the restaurant which wasn't particularly pleasant. ...

We had an excellent lunch at Il Sasso. We had just arrived in Siena, and were desperate for something to eat. We saw the restaurant and immediately liked the atmosphere, and asked if we could have a table. It was approaching 3pm when the kitchen closes until evening. There was no fuss, and we ordered our meals. My wife had a wonderful Linguine Pesto Pistacchi pasta dish which she declared one of the best Pasta dishes she had eaten, and I had the Risotto Grana E Zucchine, which was superb. Easily the best Risotto dish I had ever had! Creamy, tasty, and substantial and washed down with a local artisan beer. A perfect start to our few days in Siena. We returned for dinner a few days later, and again we both couldn't fault our meals. Highly...

Serata tranquilla in buona compagnia, prendendo il consiglio di un’amica decidiamo di fidarci e prenotiamo.. Che dire! Uno di quei consigli che difficilmente scorderai e ricorderai piacevolmente. Proprio così, ristorante grazioso locato in una via perpendicolare e rinomata di Via Banchi di Sopra con la possibilità di degustare ogni prelibatezza sia all’interno sia all’esterno, come la maggior parte dei ristoranti a Siena la bellezza dell’esterno é stare proprio sulla strada, sulla via che ogni ristorante, come in questo caso, allestisce con cura e attenzione. Servizio impeccabile! Camerieri educati e preparati in merito ai piatti serviti e agli eventuali allergeni, infatti, avvisando, c’è anche la possibilità di mangiare senza glutine, pane compreso! Insomma, servizio indiscutibile. Cibo.. Beh chiamarlo semplicemente cibo sminuirebbe la qualità delle prelibatezze che abbiamo avuto la fortuna di apprezzare, piatti squisiti, discretamente abbondanti e ben presentati. Al solo pensiero mi viene l’acquolina in bocca, specie se penso anche alle varietà di pane che ci hanno portato e fatto assaggiare, squisito! (Ps provate il pane con i frutti di bosco, ve ne innamorerete!) Rapporto qualità - prezzo nella norma, cioè sia ha la fortuna di mangiare Pesce delizioso e fresco, in una meravigliosa città in cui pensi che il pesce buono lo puoi vedere solo con il binocolo.. Se vi trovate a passare dalla splendida Siena, una sera fate un salto dal ristorante Il Sasso, ne vale la pena e non rimarrete delusi…...
