Looking for a lunch in Siena and stumbled upon this restaurant in our search for some fine Siena food. Unfortunately Tellina did not meet any expectations of fine or even satisfactory Italian food. Ordered the home made meatballs and the only thing homemade is maybe the plate the food was served on. The food tasted as if it was out of a can or had been frozen prior to serving. When I think of home made meatballs, I think of when I cut through the middle to be able to see the mince meat, the vegetables and spices/ herbs that were used in the mix. This CLEARLY looks like store purchased, highly processed meatball. Also I ordered the risotto with calamari, there were 3 pieces of squid in the whole dish, this was also extremely underwhelming. The risotto was not aldente, it was way under cooked where it had crunch in the bite. Let this review serve as a warning, DO NOT GO HERE, AS LIKE THE OTHER REVIEWS IT IS AWFUL FOOD AND A WASTE OF MONEY. Shop elsewhere that actually wants to put in an effort into their food and uphold the prestigious title of being Italian cuisine. Zero love, zero passion in this restaurant.

What if you think... you just find the best place to eat.. when in Siena??.. because I am at the place. It's hidden. I really guess, this is what they like. But not... now I have been here.! What a great place, between all these expensive, all the same food and price places. Here is just as you would suspect from a typical Italian restaurant. Why ask 16 euro !! For a half liter of house wine ?? Here just 6 and a great one. Food and prices . You simply can't get a better deal. The service. Just as the complete place just getting " home " and have your meal. No doubt. This is the place to be. And I really hope. They stay as it is. And 1000% I will get back

We got meatball spaghetti and aglio olio spaghetti, tiramisu and panna cotta. The food tasted home-made, simple. The price wasn’t high, so we thought it was reasonable. It was just two of us but we got a 1 liter water bottle with no cap, so more than half of it just got wasted. I wish they had smaller water bottles as well. The olive oil that came out on the side was not very good. It didn’t have much flavor and was expiring next month. The service was attentive but we realized what a “reserved” service meant when we were there. I guess it’s just how it is?

First time I have ever had Bruschetta from a microwave! It was as disgusting as it sounds. We sent most back and no question was asked by the rude and ignorant waitress. One of our main courses was just about edible but the other was simply dried up reheated trash. When we sent it back there was no apology or any kind of communication, she simply took it away without a word. She was definitely more interested in the happy little dog than in ensuring her customers had an enjoyable dining experience.

Needless to say, we shall never be crossing the threshold of this “restaurant” ever again and would strongly advise any potential diners take note, STAY WELL AWAY!

YOUR RESPONSE:

Regarding your reply to my honest and accurate review, we were sitting close enough to the kitchen to actually hear the microwave ping, the tomatoes were warm and the toasted bread clearly microwaved. We sent 2 of the 3 pieces back and not one comment or enquiry as to why we hadn’t eaten it! We had a similar reaction when we sent the full lasagne back, it was curled up and burned in one corner, and was clearly the last piece from a large dish. Not a single word of apology or enquiry as to why we were refusing to eat it. This from people who supposedly provide “professional and attentive service”!

My greatest regret (besides actually walking through the door of your so called restaurant) is that I didn’t photograph the appalling food we were served. I just hope you didn’t give what was returned to your dog, that would be a serious case of...

This was the worst food I've had in my stay in Italy. I had really nice dishes in Florence, San Gimignano and other surrounding areas, so I was expecting a delicious homemade dish. I ordered the fettuccine with pesto and the pasta was not fresh and neither was the pesto, which you could tell was the bottled ready-made pesto with no other seasoning and overly oily. My husband ordered the squids which came with dried salad leaves and was just as underwhelming as my dish. We had to send back the grilled aubergines because they didn't taste or smell fresh and they came out surprisingly quickly which also lead us to believe that it wasn't freshly prepared. Really disappointed, still hungry and with a bad impression of...
