Ristorante Le Gardenie — Restaurant in Sirmione

Absolutely dreamy location. Live piano just makes it even more magical. I was skeptical at first, given some reviews, but this place is a must-do when in Sirmione. The hotel, the decor, the colors of the sky, it is all breathtaking. I was not expecting too much of the food, and it turned out to be really good! we loved all our dishes. We went for the a la carte menu and it was delicious. I think the service can improve a tiny bit as there was some important delay between starter and main, they were very elegant about it and claimed that they had spotted something wrong with the dish when it came so it had to be remade. The location was just too perfect so it did not bother us too much, but this is something to bear in mind. The service is all a bit too familiar if you ask me, but that’s just a personal preference. I think they’re after a Michelin star (and they should, because it’s a pity this Relais & Chateaux does not have a Michelin starred restaurant, we chose to stay elsewhere because of this), so these details are important for the team to bear in mind. Last but not least, overall really good value for money! If you’re not staying there, I suggest you go a bit earlier to have a drink at their courtyard bar and walk through the beautiful gardens....

I went to le gardenie on Aug 30, 2019 with very high expectations given that it is the restaurant of the famous hotel Villa Cortine in Sirmione. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The set up is beautiful. The pianist is great. The food is not up to the level. My friend ordered the cod fish which was terrible. We asked the headwaiter to taste it and he agreed and removed it from our bill. The service is rather slow and waiters are not quite attentionate unless they are calked. I would therefore rate this restaurant...
