Don't ever stay here. The hotel owner has a policy of "My hotel, my rules" and is a typical MCP who has no respect for woman. Read on because we got chased out of hotel over a thermos flask.
We were supposed to stay here for 2 nights and was not cheap, at 175 euro per night. It was overpriced and zero value.
The service was bad and practically non existent. First, we noticed there was no kettle in the room. It was not a big deal as long as they could provide a flask of hot water. The receptionist had to ask for permission from the so called boss. After 15 minutes with no updates, I decided to head down and check. When she saw me, she told me they didn't have any. In the end, I had to head up to my room used my own. Left me perplexed that she didn't have the decency to inform the guests. A 3 star hotel that can't provide a flask of hot water. That was a first.
Then it was the air conditioning. We checked in on a super hot day of 24 degrees. The lady boss, Magarita told us we could adjust the temperature for the room. We did and there was no air in the room. We called front desk and no one picked up. Head down the second time to speak to receptionist. As usual, she was full of excuses it was turned off as it was a cold day yesterday etc. Needed permission to turn on when a simple "it was not working as it was not summer" would suffice.
We waited 2 hours in a hot oven, amd called the front desk again. Again, no replies. However, just less than 10 seconds later, the receptionist called back to mention they had just turned on the air con and it was working finally. Accordingly to the so called owner, they needed time (yes you read it right , 2 hours) to turn it on.
Third time to the front desk for more water. Again the defensive receptionist said "no". That was the last straw. We told the receptionist off as she could not provide any solution. Her job was to find solutions to the guests' requests instead of acting arrogance or asked me to read the rules. What rules over hot water ???
As we returned from our walks, a man stopped us in front of his restaurant after we asked for more hot water. He introduced himself as "the owner" with no name. He told us it was his restaurant and his rules.
As a service provider myself, I believed in giving credit and feedback where it was due for improvements. Instead of listening to his customers on how we felt, he went on and on about his rules and how our requests were extraordinary. He had never met anyone that needed a flask of hot water. He insisted we could only have a cup of hot water at a time. He would bring to our room everytime we called. Maybe i have to wait another 2 hours for hot water ??
Knowing the argument will get nowhere, my travel companion walked off and attempted to return to our room. His ego was bruised and came right in her face and touched her to threaten us. He insisted we were rude and did not obey his rules. He chased us out and told us to pack up immediately. Mind you, it was 730pm.
Thank God it happened. We would not want to spend our hard earned money on this horrible hotel who disrespected woman (bullying us and threatening us) all over silly incidents. He was obnoxious.
He asked us to pack up and met him at the recept. And when we did, he saw us and ran off, with no guts to face us. What a lowballer. As a leader of his business, he didn't have the guts to face the consequences of his actions, leaving the wife and the receptionist to clean up after his mess.
I strongly urge to avoid this hotel especially if you a woman. When his theats did not work, he "disappeared".
Besides service, the location is bad. You had to drive through huge crowds of people only to navigate a tiny car park that was impossible to park. The beds were soft like jelly. If you had a weak back, good luck. Ventilation was real bad.
Spend your money elsewhere and get better service.

Read moreWe’ve just stayed a week at the Meridiana & i’ll address each point I think people are looking for when deciding on a hotel.|Cleanliness - This hotel is spotless! Housekeeping do a wonderful job in the rooms and the whole place & communal areas are immaculate. |Location - Just a few minutes walk to the heart of old town Sirmione with plenty of restaurants & bars nearby. A decent uphill walk to Grotte di Catullo roman ruins & museum (& Jamaica beach) but a small ‘train’ runs from maybe 50 meters down from the hotel and takes you all the way to the top for €1.50.|We had room 110 which has a balcony with limited lake views. There is an amazing Spa just a 3 minute walk away with the waters there heated by the thermal lake water. I’d highly recommend Tavernetta Maria Callas about a 5 minute walk away for outstanding food; their 6 course taster menu (plus bread & an amuse bouche) for €79 was a bargain, the food was top notch with a very creative chef & amazing staff.|Food - The owner is a pastry chef… need I say more! Breakfasts were lovely, lots of pastries, great coffee. The Bontrot Bistro is at the hotel, we enjoyed some pasta & toasties etc. there. It’s where breakfast is served & is open all day for food & drinks and you can sit inside or on the lovely terrace and watch the world go by. They also do takeaway meal deal picnics of a sandwich/toastie with crisps and a drink. |Facilities & Room - Being a 3* hotel means it has less facilities on offer than a 4 or 5 star. So, no gym or pool etc. Also, no tea or coffee facilities in the room. The room wasn’t massive, it was a bit of a squeeze out of the door onto the balcony as it opens about 2 foot before hitting the bed. The bed, however, was massive (we have kingsize at home and this was wider) & very comfortable. Lots of storage space, wardrobes, drawers, dressing table. There is a fridge and aircon in the room but we didn’t use either so can’t comment on that. Wifi is also available but we also didn’t use that and there is a roof terrace that we also didn’t visit. The shower was always hot with good pressure & the cubicle was very large. There is a very good hairdryer in the bathroom, same drying time as my normal dyson dryer. The rooms were not particularly soundproof so child in the next room who was whining at 3am woke us up 3 nights in a row which in itself is mildly irritating but it’s a child, then the parents were talking at full volume! And then up again from 6am at the same volume! After they checked out we slept soundly. |Brace yourself for the smell from the balcony… when the thermal waters are bubbling in the lake and the wind catches it in the right direction you’ll get a strong sulphur smell. It’s not local sewers! You’ll get used to it! You’ll smell it at the spa also. |The customer service at this hotel is second to none. The owners and staff were always friendly & nothing was too much trouble. It was like home from home. The decor is more traditional & homely rather than modern and cold and I liked it very much. If I return to Sirmione I would definitely stay here again. Grazie mille for a...
Read moreI was a little worried about this hotel not having a pool but I needn’t have worried. I only spent a few hours on the sun terrace here but they have a shower to help cool you down and a small seated area in the shade too. You can also contact reception from there to order drinks. I loved the location of the hotel. Just a short walk from the spa Terme di Sirmione (I spent 2 days here! Highly recommend!) and another short walk to the nearest beach Bionde, which has toilets, changing rooms and a lovely restaurant. My accommodation basis was B&B and the breakfast was more than enough for me. Typical continental type buffet of fresh orange & grapefruit juice, cold meats & cheeses, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yoghurt, bread, sausages, bacon & scrambled eggs. I also usually had a cappuccino. I also had my dinner here a couple of times and it was fabulous too. My single room was comfortable, clean and much larger than I expected. I was worried I’d have a small, narrow single bed but it was more like a small double and it was extremely comfortable. I usually have difficulty sleeping in a strange bed on the first night but I had no difficulty here! There was the usual hairdryer on the wall in the bathroom, a shower cubicle, toilet & bidet. The room also had a small fridge which was perfect for keeping my water cold. I used to be in meditation that needed to be kept in a fridge but I suspect this fridge may not be cold enough for somethings but I’m sure the staff would accommodate anything like that. The hotel is a small family run one and the people who live and work there were all lovely! Everyone made me feel very welcome right from the start, nothing was too much bother for them, and they made my stay even more special! I was so sorry to leave but hopefully one day I’ll be able to...
