A True Sicilian Treasure – Like Dining with Family

Al Tagliere was one of the highlights of our time in Syracuse. This beautiful family-run spot—run by parents Angela and Moira with their daughters Martina and Rebecca—made us feel like part of their own family from the moment we arrived. There is no menu , they come out and discuss all possible options with you then bring out plates to cater to your tastebuds

They remembered our faces, welcomed us back with genuine warmth, and served up the kind of authentic Sicilian food that reminded me of how my nonna used to cook. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made with love. The seafood is caught daily by local fishermen and you can taste the difference.

We were treated to a complimentary digestive liqueur and a piece of their incredible almond toffee at the end of the night—crunchy, sweet, and unforgettable.

If you’re in Syracuse and want an experience that goes far beyond a meal, don’t miss Al Tagliere. It’s Sicilian hospitality and tradition at its best. We can’t wait to return.the spritz and meal...

The place looked like a simple street food joint, but in reality, it turned out to be one of the most delicious spots in all of Sicily. Don’t be misled by the modest display – ask what else is available, and they’ll bring you the very best the region has to offer, including absolutely stunning grilled jumbo prawns.

Every ingredient in this charming place is locally sourced from the best gardens, farms, and orchards, and the owners personally know all the producers. It’s incredibly rare to find such a wide variety of healthy dishes in Sicily, especially vegetable-based ones. Beautiful presentation. Maximum care.

We stumbled upon this place by chance because all the fancy restaurants had already closed by 3 PM. But this lovely spot stays open from morning till night without a break. We were absolutely blown away by the quality and flavor!

This is without a doubt a huge hidden gem and a real stroke of luck. And the service? Top-notch! You’ll be welcomed like family by a true Sicilian household. We’re definitely...

I used the dine-in service of this "restaurant," but the quality was very poor. They took more than an hour to prepare food that didn't look or taste good at all. The worst part is that they don’t display any prices, and when you get the bill, you get a really unpleasant surprise! The chefs are clearly not experienced, and the food they prepare is really bad. I even contracted COVID while waiting nearly two hours for my order to be served. There are only 10 tables and staff present, but the restaurant’s reviews are fake, so don’t trust their rating.

Imagine this place was so expensive that I ate the day before at another restaurant in Siracusa, which had a 4.9 rating, paid less, and chose my food from a proper menu. Please don’t make the same mistake I did by choosing this place, or you might end up sick like I was.

I hope I save you from being ripped off by these dishonest entrepreneurs who have never worked in or run a dine-in restaurant or...

After reading all the positive reviews, I feel my experience might not match the majority, but I want to share it. We chose this place for an aperitivo and ordered a tagliere, asking specifically for some cheese. What arrived was an enormous platter (enough for six people) mostly fatty meats, soggy fried items, and vegetables drenched in oil and oregano. There were only two slices of cheese and a ball of mozzarella. The bread was dry and tasteless. For this and a bottle of water, we paid €45. I don’t mind paying that price if the quality is good, but it was disappointing. The owners were excited to give us so much food, but sometimes “more” is not “better”. I would have preferred a smaller, balanced plate closer to what’s commonly understood as an aperitivo. Service was okay (zealous, yet a bit overbearing), and the atmosphere fine though right by the street. Overall, it left us with a sour note, and honestly, we felt a bit scammed.
