Ortigia — Restaurant in Syracuse

The location is wonderful indeed. Food was mediocre (5 our of 10). Service is friendly but slow. No bread with aperitif, so we had to remind and would get just 4 little pieces without any olive oil. The biggest disappointment though was getting a bill and the waiter who wouldn’t let us see the detailed bill but just insisted on paying a certain amount. Surprised this place has 4,9.

In your response you asked me two questions. Firstly, thank you for your reaction. Secondly, I will be happy to specify it. We had both aperitivo and dinner. When we got cocktails we asked about bread and oil and the waiter said he was going to bring everything since it’s a tradition in Italy. Later after our second reminder he brought us just four little pieces of a baguette. We got to the counter to pay and the waiter printed our bill with all the positions and their prices but quickly hid it without showing us and just telling us the amount we had to pay. It all seemed a bit shady to ge honest. In my opinion and according to my experience (including in Italian restaurants), it’s a good tone to be transparent when it comes to...

This has been my favourite restaurant so far in Sicily ! The seafood is beautifully cooked and the atmosphere is perfect. The views are amazing also. The owners treated us to lemonchello after our meal and were so kind . They told us they have been open 3 months and I am sure this place will be winning...

I have never had such delicious pasta in my life. The pasta was homemade and was very fast to be served. I ordered Spaghetti with mussels. The mussels are super fresh and there is a mussel farm right in front of the restaurant. The wine I had was absolutely fantastic. Great view as well.

Kinda pricey...
