The star in this church is the Caravaggio over the high altar. "The burial of St Lucy". Ignore reviews, it is quite easy to see the masterpiece. The church is worth seeing in it's own right, whilst relatively bare compared to other baroque churches. It's not as grand as the Duomo, and is a little neglected, but frankly that's part of it's charm. It has beautiful blue and white floor tiles. Sadly groups go through just to see the Caravaggio, guides talking loudly, disgraceful. The adjacent nun's parlour is not to be missed, beautiful tiles. No photos allowed, I didn't realise until I was told...

The Chiesa di Santa Lucia alla Badia is dedicated to the city's patron saint, Saint Lucy, martyred in Syracuse during the reign of the Roman emperor Diocletian. The church is home to a copy of Caravaggio's masterpiece, Seppellimento di Santa Lucia (Burial of St Lucy, 1609). The nave ceiling is frescoed (1783) with the Triumph of Santa Lucia by Deodato Guinaccia. Look for lots of religious art. The church is free to visit but check...

Jeżeli jesteście w okolicy to warto przyjść i zobaczyć Kościół. Polecam!
