Grand Hotel Des Ètrangers — Hotel in Syracuse

Perfect! Perfetto! Perfecto! Perfekt! Parfait! This place was outstanding! Perfectly located, absolutely stunning hotel with outstanding staff!!! Firstly the hotel was tastefully appointed & gorgeous. Several large sitting areas to relax or make phone calls. Beautiful Marano glass chandeliers not to be missed. Two different fresh fruit flavored waters by the front desk every day. The hotel room we had was fantastic with a relaxing & glorious pool and sea view as well as a stunning symphony of birds ending their day in the trees beyond the pool at sunset. From the top to the bottom, the staff here knows the meaning of five star service! Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice & enthusiastic front desk gentleman who arranged our luggage to be moved to our room a well as our car to be parked. All the front desk personnel at this hotel were exceptional, as well as the super cool & very funny gentleman who helped us with our bags and anything else we needed throughout our stay. Breakfast was included & very tasty with many, many different foods & drinks available. Made to order omelettes every day was a wonderful bonus, but even better were the ladies working in the breakfast room. They were incredible remembering our coffee & omelette preferences from the prior morning. Personable & fun, these ladies were a wonderful way to start our day with their exceptional service. Drinks & dinner at the rooftop bar and restaurant were great too. Staff at the restaurant & bar were fantastic too. Maid service was friendly, timely & always willing to bring us additional needed items. I really can’t say enough about the accommodations & services at this hotel. Absolutely one of the best hotels stays I’ve ever had & most likely the best ever. This place set a very high bar for all of our future hotel visits. We will definitely be back for a return stay! Ten stars...

We had a truly wonderful stay at Des Etrangers, and I’d summarize our experience as follows:

Location – Absolutely fantastic. The hotel is perfectly situated near excellent restaurants and the waterfront. I highly recommend booking a sea view room—it makes a world of difference.

Room Quality – Beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed. Plenty of charging outlets (a personal pet peeve when missing), which was much appreciated.

Guest Services – Outstanding! Special thanks to Annalisa and Luisa, who went above and beyond. Luisa, in particular, gave us excellent recommendations for both dining and shopping. I usually find concierge suggestions a bit “safe,” but hers were thoughtful, specific, and spot-on.

Parking – While there’s no on-site parking, the valet service was smooth and the hotel provided clear instructions, which made things easy. That said, allow more time than the advertised “30 minutes” when retrieving your car.

Pool - just awesome views with a focus on "sun protection"

Restaurant - we didn't get a chance to enjoy dinner at their roof top location but the views were excellent. Breakfast offered varied options and the service was spectacular

Room for Improvement – To keep this balanced:

Complimentary water: For a five-star property, two small bottles per day feels a bit limited.

Air Conditioning: The system cooled well, but the fan was a bit loud. Not a dealbreaker, but worth fine-tuning.

Overall, Des Etrangers exceeded our expectations and delivered a memorable experience. We would happily return and highly recommend...
