This Pizzeria Ristorante is located in front of the Palazzo Ciampoli.
At first time it is difficult to find even with help of GOOGLE MAPS.
The reason is that at this address at Corso Umberto you will find a different Restaurant.
So you need to go upstairs!
Then you can see lots of tables without any table cloth.
All are standing unprotected from the sun.
On the left hand side you can find one Orange tree with a table and little protection from the sun.
On the opposite right hand side you will find the same.
But 90% of the tables have no sun protection.
On the right hand side you will find another little terrace after using a few stairs up.
There are about 10-15 tables which are protected with big sunshades!
It is also possible to sit inside where I have seen 4 tables with table cloth.
Fast we got the menu including an extensive choice of wine bottles.
In addition we got informed about specials of the day.
We ordered a bottle of white wine and got informed 5 minutes later that it is out of stock.
After chosing a different one we also got offered LINGUINE with TRUFFELS (26 €) what we have ordered. Then I have asked the waiter if the offered Swordfish (SPADA) is really fresh. I have informed him that I do not want to get deep frozen Fish.
Another time I got confirmed that it is fresh.
So I have ordered it (19 €).
Then I got asked if I want to order extra vegetable (=extra additional price). I have denied it and the waiter has asked me how the fish should get prepared.
Yesterday I have eaten the Swordfish in a different Ristorante in Taormina where it was offered " MESSINESE STYLE" (MESSINA STYLE).
I have read that in their Menu it is offered grilled with Olive Oil and Lemon.
Because of his question how it should get prepared I have also ordered it " MESSINESE STYLE".
The alternative ordered White Wine " GRILLO " from " BAGLIO DI PIANETTO SICILIA 2021" was of good taste (=25 €).
Refilling the wine was self service.
We also got a basket with fresh bread and an AMUSE BOUCHE: Aubergine with Cheese with good taste.
Then the LINGUINE arrived. The taste was good. The portion of TRUFFELS was small.
My SPADA (SWORDFISH) was dry and not as good and tender as the previous one in the other Ristorante yesterday. The potatoes which were put on the plate as well were over boiled.
Finally I have ordered the bill.
COPERTO was charged with 4 € for two guests.
On the bill I read TRANCIO SPADA charged with 22 € instead of the in the Menu displayed 19 €.
When asking the waiter of the difference in the price I got told in an arrogant way it was extra charged with 3 € for the different preparation.
So my suggestion for future guests is as following: Order it excactly how it is displayed in the Menu. If you want it to get it prepared in a different way then ask the waiter about the EXTRA CHARGE.
In my case I have not got informed.
The bottle of water ( Acqua Gas) was charged with 3 €.
My subjective rating:
Atmosphere and ambiance: 2 STARS
Price and value for money: 2-3 STARS
Quality and preparation of meals: 2-3 STARS
SERVICE: 2 STARS
LOCATION: 2 STARS
CREDIT CARDS: Only VISA-CARD was accepted.

Read moreHorrible experience! Started by booking our table online and paid a deposit of 20euro, filled in the question about allergies and wrote that I was allergic to hazelnut & walnuts. At the restaurant I ordered a seabass with pistagionuts. When I took the first bite of the dish I sensed that my allergy kicked in immidiatly. I grabbed a young waitress and asked If there was other nuts than pistagionuts. At first she said No but then she checked with the kitchen and quickly ran back and said Yes - it was mixed nuts in the breading. She took off the plate without me eating more and she offered me something else but since I wasnt’ feeling well I declined. When the bill came in, I expexted the seabass to be removed but it was not. So questioning the older waitress (probably manager or owner) she rudely answered that I did not inform about the allergy befor e I ordered and therfor I should pay for it. I told her about the online booking where I wrote about my allergy but she had not noticed either that or the paid deposit. She disappeared for a few minutes and then came back with an updated bill, without the fish and deposit so that was then correct. But the problem was How she did not appologize at all, didn’t offer any other discount, and on top of that she had a bad attitude that it was my responsibility as customer to inform clearer about my allergies. Not a single excuse that they missed the online information, or that the fish on their menu only said pistagnuts and not a mix of nuts. She was very rude, and could not own up their mistake and instead blaiming it on me. My husband had a swordfish that was dry as paper and with half cooked potatoes and tasteless vegetables. Overpriced and overall very...
Read moreI came here as a solo diner in between shopping around town because it is centrally located with wonderful reviews. The reviews deceived me. Upon showing up to a restaurant with literally one table occupied I was presented the corner table under a wet tree tucked away. Perhaps it was because I declined the initial glass of water (so that I could peruse the drink menu), but the experience was downhill from there. Don’t let the multiple staffers fool you, each doing a part but sufficiently lacking in quality of attention to clients despite the mandatory cover charge of $3 euro per person. I’m a super fan of ambiance but the multiple lacking pieces make this place seem ugly. Back to drinks, make sure that you ask if the Prosecco is fresh because otherwise, they’ll give you something flat and wait until it is gone to serve the next customer a fresher option. I recomendó also reminding the server of the portion you request for your wine or you may be served the baby portion for the same price. As I was eating the seafood pizza (which lacked seafood flavor and was full of empty shells), a couple came in to sit in the restaurant which was 85% empty. They advised the waiter they were only there for drinks - for which the waiter shamed them. If a restaurant has 14 tables free on the terrace and is completely empty inside, you would think that they would welcome revenue. The place is pretentious and undeserving. The best thing...
