I agree with the gentleman Mr. Peter, the place is beautiful but the service and cordiality need to be improve a lot. You are rushed from the moment you get in to the moment you are leaving, because they need to clean your table for the next innocent tourists. Everything went wrong from the moment we sat down, we had to ask for bread and olive oil to dip the bread. We had to ask for side dish plates so we can place the bread we are eating, they look at me like as if I had ten heads. Especially the English speaking waiter, not knowing that I'm born and raised Sicilian. The manners were just bad. I think maybe we sounded too demanding for services that I'm paying for. This English speaking waiter twice hit my daughter by mistake on her head with plates as he was cleaning the table again in a rush. He did not apologized at all both times. I just wanted to leave e at the point. I order a Sicilian dish, pasta with black ink squid. Now, I know my dish. This was not at all that dish this was like taking flour and water water and throw black ink. It was something artificial bad, I did not eat it at all When the waiter approach to clean the table he did not care to ask if I liked it or not or would I like something else. Again did not care, nor the chef came to me and n said why I did not like. My feeling is of this place, They all of them do not care because it is inn a busy area and ifthey lose you they get somebody else. This is the first complaint about a restaurant to...

We went for dinner at the Granduca Restaurant which was recommended to us by a local friend as a special place to dine. To ensure a table I had previously booked and we arrived on time (9.00pm) to be shown to our places. The young waitress was somewhat disinterested even though we were provided with water, bread cover and menus. We had to wait for another 30 mins for someone to finally take our order though the restaurant was not busy and the wine and food arrived about 20 minutes later - unfortunately not what we ordered. After a perfunctory apology with an implication it was our fault and another promised "2 minutes", which turned out to be 20, our meals arrived which were very tasty if overpriced. However, the setting was excellent, overlooking the sea, although I had to move on two occasions to let a food trolley pass to serve another table. After waiting for further service and not being asked if our meal was satisfactory or we wanted anything else, I asked for the bill and duly paid by credit card. As we left the manager/maître d' rushed over and demanded to know if we had paid and was not happy until he checked with the cashier, despite showing him my credit receipt. Feeling very much insulted, I quietly explained my grievances to him to which he simply gave a shrug! It is rare for me to complain or give poor reviews, and I hope that this is a one-off experience because the restaurant setting is worth the extra cost. Sadly, from other...

Believe you me, if I could give this place LESS I would. Let’s start off with the HORRIFIC service. We arrived (a party of 6) and enjoued the first hour of actually being waited on. Then all of a sudden, after our primi(pasta) dishes, everyone apparently made the decision “oh okay that group doesn’t need anything anymore.” No one came over to our table to check on us(wine/water literally nothing) for approximately 30-40 minutes. When the staff did come over finally with the secondi, my fiancés dish was totally overlooked. It took my father 3x to get the server to acknowledge the mistake and bring my fiancés food over. We all were willing to chalk it up to a mistake happening. Ask if the staff apologized, they didn’t. Ask if the staff opted to offer my family ANY complimentary desert or comp my fiancés meal. They didn’t. We’ve stayed in Letojanni for a week and Italy for 2 and quite frankly it’s the ONLY place that asked for tip and the ONLY place we didn’t leave one. The food is mediocre, the view is stunning but I’d rather shop, look at the view in Porta Mezzina or Porta Catania and then head over to Letojanni to Ristorante DeNinos where the food, service + views are all class. Absolutely a tourist trap and abhorrent— please be weary that the bill will also cost you 2-3x more than...

This is our 5th day in the area, and our 9th meal out and THE most unfriendly unwelcoming place we have visited so far. The view is the only thing that earns it any stars at all. We encountered 5 different members of staff and they were all miserable - one of them, a woman, honestly was the most miserable person I’ve ever seen in my life. I joked with my family that she couldn’t pay her bill here two years ago and they have kept her prisoner working here ever since. Seriously, if you do visit - try to guess which one this is!! I don’t think I’ve been anywhere where it appeared that the people eating there were an inconvenience. Looking back we perhaps did two things wrong ourselves - 1. We didn’t book in advance. The look of disdain when I said we hadn’t booked! 2. We didn’t order wine. The table next to us ordered wine and the waiter appeared to make a big fuss of them, bringing the Parmesan and offering to sprinkle it on their food. We just got the Parmesan placed on our table by the miserable waitress - no offer of sprinkling it for us. Just an overall odd experience and a place we wouldn’t visit again even if the food was free.

We had the pleasure of returning to the Ristorante Granduca in Taormina, and once again, the experience was excellent in every way.The setting is beautiful, offering an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by greenery with wonderful sea views. It’s the perfect place for a romantic dinner or a special occasion with friends. The service was impeccable: staff were courteous, attentive, and professional from start to finish, always ready with helpful suggestions without ever being intrusive. The dishes were beautifully presented, combining Sicilian tradition with modern creativity. From starters to mains, everything was well-executed, using high-quality ingredients and refined pairings. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the fish prepared with great skill, the meat delicate and flavorful, and the desserts well-balanced and satisfying. This is clearly a kitchen that knows what it’s doing and delivers with consistency. In short, Granduca is a safe choice in Taormina: professionalism, quality, kindness, and a beautiful setting make it a restaurant we would confidently recommend.

Me and my fiance ate at this restaurant to round off the final day of our holiday to Sicily. To start I ordered mussels and my fiance ordered a lasagne-like dish. Both of which were a good start to the meal. For our mains we ordered the steak and also a swordfish dish. The swordfish was light and had a lot of flavour. The steak however was a bit of a let down. We ordered it medium rare and it came well done. We overheard another table making the same observation so maybe the chef always cooks the steak this way. The steak also came with some vegetables which didn’t pair well at all with the steak. It felt like the same vegetables from the swordfish dish were lifted and shifted onto the steak dish. For desert we had the profiteroles, which were solid. Overall, the experience was good. I wouldn’t consider this restaurant the best we went to in Sicily but it was the more expensive. I would recommend others come to the restaurant to experience a flavour of fine dining in Sicily.
