Antica Ghiacceretta — Restaurant in Trieste

We have been in italy for a week and it has been delightful, until tonight at this restaurant. Absolutely the WORST service for food that’s average at best (octopus and fish were both over cooked!). The service was abominable, it was all about “churn and burn”…”how many seatings can we get”… at least for the non-locals. They rushed us through dinner. They picked up plates while one person was still eating! They treated the locals much better than the tourists. Our hotel recommended the restaurant. We told them never to do that again because they treated tourists very badly. We even told our server that we were unhappy with the experience and she just shrugged her shoulders. The food was really good- so far what we've got. The waiters were friendly and excused for the faults of the owner. Unfortunately the owner seems to have his favourite guests. He took the wrong order, I got my food 30 minutes before my husband got his. First he got the wrong order than we waited a very long time for the first course he actually wanted. Other guests, who looked more important got the perfect service... After more than one hour my husband asked for the receipt, because he didn't get his main course. We wanted to have a nice evening- it' was our honeymoon- but we haven't got it. O Well!! That was something i didn't expect. The fish was very overdone. This ruined the dish. I also notice about service that is it a big difference between Italian speaking people and other. The waitress was cold and not the friendly people from Italy that we are used too. They didn't pay attention, I have too ask for everything, empty vinglas empty water and saw on. Lost my appetite for dessert. Been in Trieste for one week and have nice experience every we're else, except Antica...
