Amici Miei Restaurant — Restaurant in Turin

A staple of business lunch pizza in the heart of Torino with fabulous pizza and many other offering (from pastas to mains, to dessert). The place fills up quickly, but the service is blazingly fast. I don't know that 10.000 pizzas come out of the wood-fired oven every hour, but I wouldn't be too surprised, and each is cooked to perfection. They are also very filling thanks to generous toppings and a high fluffy "cornicione" (the pizza's outer ring). Pizza business lunch includes the great Italian classics (like margherita, prosciutto, and so on) and a "pizza of the day" that changes regularly. There is also always a gluten-free option. It also gets loud when full, but never too loud and the atmosphere is relaxed. For dinner it gets somewhat calmer (but not always), but the service remains super fast...

While the pizza was good, and they had enough space to accommodate not having reservations on Friday evening (unlike the first 3 places we checked), Amici was a disappointment due to it's terrible service. We are from out of town, and despite using basic Italian to order and converse with our waiter, we were routinely placed last in priority to local guests. We watched at least 2 tables that were seated after us on the patio receive their order, get their beverages and food before we had received our starter. Overall it took over 2.5 hrs to finish our meal and get our check (we had to chase to down the waiter who was goofing off in the kitchen to do so). While Amici may be a good option for locals, I cannot recommend this place...

Avevamo prenotato un tavolo, la ragazza in reception risponde in modo abbastanza scazzato e ci dice di trovare, autonomamente, il nostro tavolo al piano superiore, cosa abbastanza difficile da fare dato che nessun tavolo aveva un segnaposto numerato. Considerata questa problematica, una volta arrivati al piano superiore, chiediamo ad un’altra ragazza se potesse indicarci quale fosse il nostro tavolo: la ragazza prende due menu e si incammina; la seguiamo e ad un certo punto vediamo che poggia i menu su un tavolo ma senza fermarsi o dire una parola; istintivamente abbiamo continuato a seguirla, salvo poi accorgerci che stava andando ad un altro tavolo a parlare con altri clienti, senza rivolgerci mezza parola dal momento in cui avevamo chiesto “indicazioni”. Ci siamo quindi accomodati al tavolo (in un posto abbastanza scomodo a dirla tutta, in una “strettoia” della sala con un costante traffico di camerieri e clienti, trovandosi immediatamente attaccato alla porta della cucina e vicino ad un mobile con bicchieri ecc) e abbiamo ordinato. Servizio velocissimo, sia per le bibite che per la pizza, tuttavia: coca cola alla spina sgasata e tutt’altro che fresca parte del sugo sulla pizza ancora eccessivamente liquido Quanto alla pizza: piccola rispetto al piatto, dimensione del cornicione esagerata (soprattutto se parametrato alla dimensione della pizza), la problematica del sugo sopracitata e impasto abbastanza pesante a mio modo di vedere; ingredienti buoni quindi comunque la pizza si lasciava mangiare. Al momento di pagare la ragazza alla reception si è mostrata nuovamente scazzata. Riassumendo: accoglienza e servizio: malissimo (1/5 solo per la velocità) pizza: accettabile ma c’è di meglio (3/5) prezzo: esagerato per la dimensione e la qualità della pizza e per il servizio offerto (2.20 di coperto in una pizzeria, bah, con questo...
