Il Padellino — Restaurant in Turin

Here is a picture of the best pizza I’ve ever had, was I skeptical at first about this famous pizza from Turino? Yes I was, I take my pizza very seriously. I ordered the classic Il Padellino pie, the crust was soft and gooey in the middle while the exterior was caramelized from the pan they cook it in and slightly burnt at the top edges. (the way good bread or pizza crust should be) The sauce was light, just there to provide a bit of moisture to the salty meat and roasted eggplant that balanced the richness of the cheese perfectly. Had a nice glass of dolcetto with it and damn was it affordable and satisfying. This place was PACKED on a Thursday around 1 pm, they gladly sat me after I made a reservation 15 minutes beforehand. If your party is more than one person book in advance, if you’re high strung just chill man, good things take time. Do it, this place invented the style, they are the OG’s of Turino...

First of all, I must say that the food was delicious. The farinata was exquisite and the tagliatelle di farro with shrimps and porcini the same.

The reason for the low starring is because of the service. We had dinner on Saturday night, and the way we were treated is far away from what you´d expect from a place like this. They somehow forced us to leave the restaurant, because they wanted more customer to dine in the restaurant.

I think that making money is the aim of every business owner, but, the customers who are already inside should be treated well. We were given the bill without having asked for it, they picked up very fast the plates, even without having finished them and seeing us that we were eating.

disappointing and expensive. I chose the restaurant after returning to my hotel after visiting a museum (from 16-18). The dish I chose the restaurant for was not available (!). Then there was some confusion about whether I ordered a glass or a 1/2l of wine. (at least one of the staff spoke English). I ended up ordering a meat-dish: this was very basic: just grilled meat (which was fine) and fried potatoes. The one dish together with the wine I ended up paying 22.80 Euro (including 2 Euro for coperto/cover). I feel this is really overrated for this single dish. I saw most people werer ordering the (deep pan) pizza, which may be a better option. I will not...
