Las Rosas — Restaurant in Turin

Visited this place with a friend on our last evening in Turin. The service was really slow and took a while to even get anyone’s attention, I eventually ended up walking to the bar to get a menu. My friend ordered a chicken (pollo) burrito. It arrived in a small red basket without a plate, which I understand is the style but at least the offer of a plate would’ve made a difference. His food looked really bland, plain white rice and “chicken” I asked to try a bit as I wasn’t eating and had only ordered a drink. As soon as I tried it, it tasted and smelt exactly like TUNA. I have a minor allergy to fish, thankfully I do not suffer from severe reactions. So I avoid it at all costs and know straight away that fishy smell and taste. But that tiny mouthful I had was enough to irritate me! I was so shocked to see that this restaurant is trying to pass tuna off as chicken!! Absolutely disgusting trading. The staff were not approachable or couldn’t get anyone’s attention to ask what exactly the “meat” was in that dish! I am absolutely disgusted by this place, if I could give it 0 stars I would....

Ciao, io sono @lovefood18.0 (potete trovare la mia pagina su instagram) e oltre a pubblicare piatti creati da me, ogni tanto amo occupare il mio tempo libero andando a stuzzicare un po' in giro. Visto che il tempo il questi giorni non era dei migliori, volevo sentire un po' di "mucho calor"....e quale posto migliore, se non quello del Las Rosas?

Location: Il locale è situato in una zona molto comoda da raggiungere (5 minuti dalla piazzetta del "Quadrilatero") e in una viuzza molto tranquilla, adatta per godersi una bella serata... ma questo, è sicuramente reso dall'atmosfera accogliente e calda data dell'interno del locale. Sembra appunto, di essere catapultati in Messico, in una tradizionale "tavola calda", resa però moderna e stilosa dai bellissimi arredi, che ho adorato, (le lanterne, i quadri, le piastrelle in ceramica con richiami messicani...). Un giusto mix tra tradizione e modernità.

Menù: La proposta è molto ampia devo dire, sia parlando della cucina, che della parte dei drink e del bere (anche se in questo posto, non si può far altro che urlare Sangriaaaaa). Unica pecca, che non condivido molto, è la proposta Tex Mex, la quale però viene dimenticata in un nano secondo, dall'interessante e buona proposta dei piatti tradizionali, nascosti e custoditi con cura (infatti sulla menù cartaceo non si trovano, solo su quello digitale, e vengono proposti una volta ciascuno e non tutti la stessa sera). Parlando di qualità, che devo dire.....tutto buonissimo. Forse poca forza e carattere nel guacamole ma le tapas e tutti gli altri piatti classici ti fanno dimenticare anche queste piccolissime pecche. Consiglio: essendo una cucina di condivisione, le porzioni sono belle abbondanti e cariche (come anche solo le tapas messicane), quindi il consiglio è, assaggiare più cose magari, ma in condivisione.

Servizio: in linea con lo spirito del locale; conviviale, familiare e alla mano ma molto professionale.

Conto: Devo ammettere, che per la quantità delle porzioni e per la qualità dei piatti , il prezzo è anche fin troppo onesto e questo mi ha lasciato piacevolmente colpita. Ritorneremo senz'altro....

We weren’t expecting truly authentic Mexican cuisine, but we did hope for bold, spicy, flavorful dishes as described on the menu. Unfortunately, everything we were served was bland and disappointing. The guacamole had no flavor—even adding jalapeños didn’t help. The chili con carne was overly salty, dry, and lacked any real spice. The fajita mix was just as underwhelming, with boiled, watery chicken, dry beef, and tasteless, cold tortillas. None of the dishes delivered the bold flavors one would expect from Mexican-inspired food. While the food wasn’t terrible, it certainly wasn’t good.
