was booked into this hotel as part of a group, so had no choice. was quite terrified after reading other reviews, thus an update to these: The Elevator was working, the rooms we were assigned however were on a split level with about 20 steps to walk up (or down), luggage service was not provided, not even to the lady in her mid-60ies.||There was free wifi in our rooms, not though in the rooms the students had in a different wing. These rooms were accessible via a "balcony" and quite drafty.||My room was fairly large and clean-ish, but furnished in a spartanic and rather unloving way: the bed was just a naked mattress on a steel frame, not even a head board, the remaining furniture was old and not nice. no fridge. My colleague's room was made up more recently, so this apparently is a bit of a lottery. ||Important to know: not only the corridors, but also the rooms on that floor have tiled floors, no carpets. This in combination with the wooden doors (not insulated) made for a continuous soundscape. We shared the floor with a large group of pupils and could not help but notice the successive banging on all the doors (plus the odd ensuing conversation) before 7 in the morning. This group also reduced our breakfast options to "at 7" or "after 8.15" - neither of which did really suit us.||Breakfast is served in a nice large hall with chandeliers. A croissant and a plate with bread rolls, ham and cheese is served at the table, there is also a choice of hot beverages, and a large buffet with juice, fruit salad, yoghurts, packed cakes, bread, jam, nutella..... no eggs or sausages, but certainly more than enough to satisfy most appetites. In times of Covid I actually appreciated the fact that most items were pre-packed, plus no need to discard them at the end of the day. ||Service is friendly, by day 3 the waiters knew me and my needs. For my last night I was even given a much nicer room as my toilet was slightly leaking after an initial repair on the cistern. It even had a wooden floor, but the doors weren't soundproof either. ||The location is very good, many nice bars and restaurants nearby, and a tram stop just around the corner, the City Centre in walking distance.||In total, this might be an economical compromise in a good location, and the general atmosphere was friendly, but I would prefer a place where I could rely on a certain amount of carefulness with regards to the room...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Check in was easy. The person at the desk was friendly and helpful.||It is a historic hotel. Keys are what they used to be. No key cards. You need to lock your room from the outside and inside your room.||The rooms are nice. There are extra blankets in the closets. There is a small refrigerator in the room.||The bathroom is small but nice. There is an old fashioned blow dryer on the wall. The shower has a detachable handle to shower. There is good water pressure. The bath towels are really big!||There is a small bench like item in the room for your suitcase. ||The room was really quiet. All I heard was church bells ringing on the hour.||The breakfast is really nice. There is bread, fruit, yogurt, cheese, meat, juice, coffee, cereal, pastries, hard boiled eggs, etc. You can get a fresh cup of cappuccino. The staff is very nice.||The only problem was that the wifi wasn't good. It wouldn't connect.||The location is really good. It seems hidden. I almost missed it when I first came to check in. Near a lot of the city. You can walk or take public transportation to get around. Restaurants within...
