A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home – The Garden Bistrot
Dining at The Garden Bistrot is like stepping into a dreamscape of flavors, charm, and hospitality. Nestled in a quiet corner of the city, this cozy, elegant spot is more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience.
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The atmosphere is warm and rustic-chic, with soft garden lighting, lush greenery, and the kind of ambiance that invites you to stay just a little longer than you planned. But what truly sets this place apart is the impeccable service.
Marco and Sali—remember those names. These two are absolute stars. Marco has a sixth sense for hospitality—anticipating every need before you even know you have it. He guided us through the menu like a seasoned storyteller, highlighting the dishes with such passion you could almost taste them already. And Sali? An absolute delight. Friendly, attentive, and effortlessly cool, he made sure every course was timed perfectly and every glass stayed full. Their synergy created an unforgettable dining experience, balancing professionalism with a genuine, heartfelt warmth.
As for the food—every dish was a masterpiece. From the garden-fresh starters to the soul-warming mains and the melt-in-your-mouth dessert, it was a celebration of seasonal ingredients and culinary artistry. The flavors were thoughtful and surprising, with just the right amount of boldness.
If you’re looking for a place that combines top-tier Italian cuisine with authentic, heartfelt service, The Garden Bistrot should be at the very top of your list. And if you’re lucky enough to be served by Marco and Sali, you’re in for something...

What a happy circumstance because the food is excellent, and the service friendly and efficient. We shared the Impepata di Cozze (mussels), and had secondi dishes of Tentacolo di Piovra (octopus), and Salmone. For the record, we returned to this gem of a restaurant 4 times during our stay, and I had that octopus every single time!! We travel extensively and eat in some of the world’s great restaurants, and their octopus is some of the very best that I have ever had. It is perfectly cooked, very flavorful, and almost fork-tender. I’m definitely going to miss it😢. The aforementioned mussels were also very good and plentiful…enough for two. Needless to say, everything that we’ve had has been really good…so says my wife…because I always had the octopus LOL.
This is a family run restaurant…Marco runs the front of the house along with his sister-in-law, Julia, while his wife Denada is the chef. What a team!!! And even when things get hopping, their service is fast and friendly. You can see lots of pictures of the food, but I’m posting one of these three who are the hard working owners who make it all happen…who will give you some of the best food and service that you’ll get in La Serenissima. Do yourself a favor and wander into Campo Santa Margarita and the Garden Bistrot, and let these three dedicated restaurateurs wow you....
Read moreWas told by my server, Marko, that I was the first customer of the place as they had just literally opened that morning.
I have to say, I was a bit sceptical when I heard that, who wouldn’t be? New places usually don’t have all items on the menu and sometimes do not know what they are doing. However, I was quickly absolved of my doubts as they brought the food quickly, and nicely platted, and I got to enjoy a nice Burrata and Pomodoro salad to a relatively good price (€12). Marko was nothing but friendly and we had a small exchange while waiting for my food. He was also very helpful with any of my questions and informed me that, as they had just reopened the day I’m writing this, they could not take card.
I always appreciate knowing that beforehand as some businesses let you eat and then pounce this on you after, forcing you to go to an ATM, then back to pay and leave right after!
No good review would be complete without a description of the layout. I thought it was pretty nice. Typically rustic on the outside with a more modern look on the inside. A nice blend.
All in all, I hope Marko and the team stay around for a while as I will no doubt drop by again, and definitely advise my friends...
