We love this historic beautiful square of Campo Santa Margherita, becouse this is the beating heart of the city's nightlife. It is located in sestiere Dorsoduro. And in this popular square with many palaces, osteria, bars and locals, there is a favorite "Osteria alla Bifora". It owes its name to a fenced window built in the Gothic style and discovered during the restoration. It stands out from other osteria (taverns) and bars with its traditional appearance, friendly service, quality food and good wines. Among other things, this is real Venice, conjured up with atmosphere and spirit. This place deserves a visit just to see it, an ancient hall with decorated wooden beams, the mullioned window of the name and a prestigious furniture which, however, does not create a sumptuous and pompous environment but, warm, enveloping and relaxed atmosphere. Bacaro Alla Bifora has such a rich, varied food that most Venetians consider it a complete restaurant. The offer includes full trays of cold, sliced meat and cheese, a large selection of excellent fish or meat cicchetti, various baccalà preparations (Baccalà alla vicentina or Baccalà mantecato alla veneziana), and Venetian classics such as polpette, sardines or marinated anchovies. La Bifora also serves several excellent hot dishes, seppie in nero con polenta (black ink cuttlefish with polenta) are among the best in town. Fair price for the amount of food on a plate, especially since we are in Venice.

People like meat and this place serves mountains of freshly cut ham delivered in a large plate. I get that. I still don’t understand the rating. While the whole campo is extremely nice and reflects a totally different vibe of the city, the waitresses show extremely low empathy. We also had a bit of trouble with communications. We do not speak Italien, however, when really working customer oriented, who cares. Restaurants would always work with the guests to make it happen. But it seems that they simply did not care and just wanted to serve their ham plates. As they serve a lot of fresh ham, it also attracted some friendly bees. So we did not appreciate the fact that they grilled the bees with an electro tennis rack shocker. As a fun fact, the bees got even more angry and started to fight back the guests :) We found that a bit disturbing and moved on to the next bar down the street where we actually had a good time enjoying the rest of the afternoon.

I left my hotel room looking for a pizza and walked past this place. It looked cosy inside so I walked in to have a drink... However, after having glasses of prosecco for 3 euros, and watching the food coming to the people around us, we decided to order prociutto crudo with bacala Mantecato. OH MY GOD. I never tasted better prociutto in my life. The bread was delicious and the bacala (dried salted fish which is blended with olive to become a paste) os served with this very delicate 18 months prociutto. I am dribbling just thinking bout it. It was big enough for 2 a d after one of those, many prosecco and a limoncello, the bill came to 50 euros. Totally recommend

We tried to ask for a table and we were asked to wait. After waiting for a long time, a table became available and nobody invited us to take a seat. The waitress, which is also the owner of the place, completely ignored us, despite knowing that we were waiting, so we decided to seat down (the place doesn't take table reservation and we were the only one in the queue). As soon as we sat down, the owner told us in a very rude way that we had to wait for her to clean the table. We replied that we were just waiting, there was no pressure and she came back with disinfectant spray and sprayed us all over without any attention as she was annoyed. We then decided to leave as this is not the way to treat custumers and told her so. She was even ruder and told us that she was the only one serving tables. We replied that we knew that being regular customers, but this doesn't allow her to being rude to us. She left with so much anger without even replying and apologizing. We will...
