Pub Margaret DuChamp — Restaurant in Venice

⚠️The prices are cheap but the service is HORRIBLE! ⚠️ Do not go unless you’re ready to deal with a really sassy and disrespectful waiter!⚠️

We decided to go to this bar because the prices were cheap and it was in an active nightlife area. The first night we went there, everything went smooth and we ordered and payed without a problem.

The conflict came when we went the second night. We were 5 girls in a table talking and having some drinks as any other table was. All of a sudden, the same waiter that attended us the previous night came to our table to ask us to pay. It was only 23:30 when he came and the bar didn’t close until much later.

We wanted to pay separately but he insisted that it wasn’t possible because he was very busy and didn’t have time, we said we could wait for when he was available but he was really insistent to the point that made us uncomfortable and we payed at that moment.

A few short minutes later, a different waiter came to clean our table and started taking some glasses that weren’t even finished. We had to drink it quick before she took it from us. To this situation, we were the only table receiving this kind of service because ironically a couple had just sat and was ordering next to us.

Afterwards, when the first waiter approached the new table next to us we asked him about the questionable service we had received and wandered why he had such a hurry with us paying when the table next to us had just ordered. He got all defensive and started telling us which tables had payed, we asked him again why was it such a complication to split the bill and he got sassy and angry and practically shouted to us that that bar was “his house” and those were “his rules” and that if we didn’t like them: “ there are other bars you can go to, honey”. We were shocked and left immediately. His response was unprofessional to say the least. The worst part is that THIS is the image they give to the public. We were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the service received. We will NEVER come back. We were excited to recommend this place to some friends who were also visiting but we are NEVER recommending this...

On the beautiful Campo Santa Margherita there is this remarkable bar, Margaret DuChamp. From Piazzale Roma to the Accademia, it is inevitable to pass by this bar in this beautiful square. It is a very good place where to meet your friends and to have a good night out. We came to freshen up with a great spritz. The atmosphere is always great because students from nearby universities gather here, who gather here every evening to have a chat, along with a spritz or ombra. It is decorated with style and represents the true Venetian spirit. In addition to being a meeting place, the bars of Campo Santa Margherita are an excellent alternative to restaurants if you want to have a quick and light meal. Indeed bar Margaret DuChamp offers a varied menu, which includes sandwiches, wraps, pizza, toast, club sandwiches and even the typical Venetian cicchetti. They offer a phenomenal Burger menu. Always came here for vacation to visit my friends and this has always been my number one to go to pub in Venice! I believe they have quite few competitors in the area but what really attracts this pub/bar is not only the great atmosphere but truly the super friendly staff, affordable but exquisite cocktails, yummy food (hamburgers! near the main pub) and the incredible nights here!

Staff always manages to put a smile on even in the late nights and I will always appreciate that as a customer because this place can get crowded easily as it is very favourable for students and youngsters, but never in a chaotic way, so it's always nice to see the hardworking staff!
