Delightful. Delicious. Whimsical. Excellent. AND good value for the quality. Wonderful experience, start to finish. I feel lucky to have been there. Their prosecco- 🍾 so tasty. The charcuterie platter- possibly the best I’ve ever had. How so? The quality. I would go back tomorrow and have it again if I could. The bread they brought to the table- excellent. We had gazpacho, which wasn’t on the menu, and it was lovely. Not the best I’ve had, but good and perfect in a hot summer night. And then we had the lasagne Bolognese- also really tasty. Chocolate cake was fine- very Italian, which isn’t my favourite, but if you like those spongy cakes, it was good. The fact that I don’t love that kind of cake is my failing and not theirs. The tiramisu was sold out or we would have had that. It is a small space and very welcoming and cozy. The whole place is filled with Mauro’s personality, and he is a delightful human as far as I can tell. I wish I could be a regular customer. Sadly, the west coast of Canada is too far away for that. And they are open late. Everything is good...
Read moreLovely experience with friendly, charming service. Run by a family who are passionate about food and wine. The Prosecco was housemade and delicious. The assortment of Venetian appetizers were fantastic, but we were disappointed with the entrees, which were very expensive, almost 30 euros each. I highly recommend that you go here and stick to the appetizers. There were many choices, and food on other tables looked very appealing, especially the carpaccio. The seafood lasagna sounded amazing, but it looked like a TV dinner and didn’t taste much better. The sepia was very tender, but I didn’t care for the peas, and the sauce was bland. I chose to omit the polenta because I don’t like white polenta, and there was no pasta to replace it. I didn’t care for the brown bread or crackers, wished it was white bread. It didn’t go with the food. The atmosphere was nice. I loved the music they played. I would go back and stick to appetizers. When the food is this expensive, you want it...
Read moreFamily management that run probably one of the last real Osteria of Italy. Host he’s considered a “pioneer” in the world of European wine as he spent his life in the continuous search for the first truly ancient flavors that the ancients tasted.. I never thought I would taste the spritz that the Venetians sipped in 1800 at the time of the domination of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before the unification of Italy! Right in Italy he often appears on television and also in the famous Masterchef program! The entire Osteria is a hymn to wine with bottles from all over Italy with a particular eye especially for those that come from the Venice Lagoon😱 The food was also very good with generous portions, under the watchful eye of his wife Nadia who makes sure everything is always like at home! I think was told that he just reopened after Covid19 because he didn't want to retire😂 We had...
