To call this place a “hidden gem” wouldn’t do it justice. Aside from being the best restaurant in the Castello district, it is probably one of the best restaurants in Venezia. The food is a mix of traditional Venetian plates, and more inventive plates that still stick to using traditional Venetian ingredients. We started off with a plate of Venetian dried meats and cheeses which were all fantastic and favorably portioned. For primi we had what was the highlight of the meal (you’ll see other reviews make mention of it as well) - the black ravioli filled with sea bream. I have eaten at quite a few restaurants of varying Michelin stars, and this plate could easily top any of those menus. We finished off with the Fegato alla Veneziana which was extremely tender and flavorful. For drink we enjoyed a reasonably priced and extremely tasty house red (valpolicella). The service was top and company was great. Improvements? None, everything was perfect. Recommendations? Get there EARLY. It is a very small restaurant and fills up quick. We look forward to our next trip to Venezia to eat here again.

This was our last night to eat dinner in Venice. Superb dinner! Venice has some of the top notch seafood you can get so if you love seafood, this is definitely a place for you. I highly recommend you order some of their staple dishes to the city. For our appetizer: Grigliata musta dell’ Adriatco “ mix grilled Adriatic fish, crustaceans in molluscs and fish” First course: Bigoli in salsa di acciughe all’s veneziana “Bigoli in anchovies, an onion sauce in the nation style” Second course: Raviolini Neri artigianali ripieni al branzino, ricotta conditi con crema allo zafferano “Handmade, black ravioli, stuffed with sea bass, ricotta cheese in saffron sauce” I recommend going around they open up, we arrived around 5:30pm as we sat down the restaurant quickly became full. If you want to be seated quickly. I would recommend doing at least one or two days reservation for most restaurants.

Having read the reviews me and my fiance decided to try this place. As expected, there was a queue so we waited outside for 20 mins but it was all worth it. Food was absolutely delicious. We had Scallops for starters and it was so fresh and sweet. For mains I had the Duck Tagliatelle and my partner had clams with spaghetti, both very good with lots of flavor. The staff was very helpful when deciding on wines to compliment the food but one thing I will never forget is the amazing dessert I had. I can't remember what its called but I think its crème brûlée with pistachios. If you want dessert make sure you order that one!!! I would so go back to Venice just for that dessert! Overall a great dining experience, cosy, friendly staff and simply one of the best Italian food I have ever tried. It is pricey and you will need to wait (best to reserve a table) but that is expected in Venice.

A friend of mine who recently visited Venice recommended this off-the-beaten path restaurant. I was fortunate it was open on a Sunday, as many restaurants in Venice are not. I tried to make reservations for 6:30pm (when they opened). They said they don’t take reservations, but should be no problem at 6:30pm. Good thing I was on-time, as the restaurant was full by 6:35pm (restaurant only has seating for 26) with 10 people waiting. I got the warm octopus salad (pictured) as an antipasti which was one of the best seafood salads I have ever had. I also got the seabreem (bronzino) which came as a whole grilled fish (head and all) with some typical grilled vegetables on the side. The food was excellent and price very reasonable. Menus also in English and English spoken. Recommended.

Osteria Alla Staffa is truly a gem in Venice, offering some of the best pasta I've ever had. I had the pleasure of trying their Pappardelle with Duck Ragu, as well as their Black Ravioli stuffed with Seabass, Ricotta Cheese, and Saffron Sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection, perfectly al dente, and the sauces were divine. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wanting more. Despite its small size and limited seating, the restaurant exudes a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Luckily, I managed to find a seat upon my visit, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The space may be small, but it's kept neat and clean, adding to its charming, homely vibe. Overall, Osteria Alla Staffa is a must-visit for any pasta lover in Venice.

SERVED US RAW FISH AND DIDN’T REMAKE ORDER. Food is terrible considering we paid 140€. We ordered a white fish and it came completely RAW. We could not even cut into the fish. We informed the owner and she kindly apologized, but she just popped our half eaten fish in the microwave and served it back to us. Very unprofessional and embarrassing considering the fish is 25€, at least make us a new one. The bigoli was slightly undercooked, you could still see the opaque white of the pasta when you bit into it. The spaghetti with mussel ragu tasted good but it did not come with cherry tomatoes like the menu said. Owner is extremely unprofessional and CLEARLY cannot take criticism. Her restaurant reflects poorly on Venice as a whole.
