As an older couple experiencing Venice for the first time, we loved this hotel. It is a ten-minute walk from the main San Marco ferry stop from the airport (definitely the best way to get to Venice from the airport) and a ten-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal, which makes it pretty central. The hotel only has twelve rooms and is built around a very pretty courtyard. Entering the hotel from the road you get to the reception, and a little seating area within touching distance of a small canal with gondolas regularly passing! The hotel is run and owned by the wonderful Didier. Didier speaks at least twelve languages so he's likely to speak yours! His sole aim is to make his guests feel at home, welcome and informed. He really couldn't do enough for us during our five-day stay. Our room, number 111 , was reached by a carpeted staircase, which ran beside the courtyard, and was open to the skies, which only added to its charm. The room had a large comfortable bed, impossibly high, beamed, ceiling and a bathroom, which although not modern, was everything we needed. Compared to many hotels in Venice the Locanda La Corte is very reasonably priced and so represents excellent value for money. If you only like ultra-modern, uniform luxury this may not be the hotel for you, but if style, service and individuality are your thing, then you will love this hotel. Breakfast is included and is typical for its type; a buffet of juices, cold meats and cheese, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, bread and pastries and hot bacon, scrambled egg and sausages. Breakfast can be taken inside, in what is the hotel's restaurant, or in the outside courtyard, under the largest patio umbrella we've ever seen. |We spent every day taking in the wonders of Venice, and every day we were so pleased to return to our little gem of a hotel. The attached restaurant is so good we ate there twice. Didier made sure everyone felt welcome, and the food and drink were exceptional. Somehow this charming hotel mirrors the rest of Venice, delightful, amazing and different from any other city. We would thoroughly...
Read moreWe had stayed here 14 years ago and were so excited to come back . But it sure wasn't the same . We literally had the same room , same everything as 14 years ago, furniture etc , definitely a little worn looking . There was no one to help carry our bags up the steps and there is no lift ,but the person at the desk told us someone would get them . After a few .minutes there was a knock at the door. The chef from the restaurant downstairs had put them in front of the door. After we were unpacked and went down to explore Venice ,we were told that there was no hot water and it was Saturday so probably wouldn't be fixed until Monday .. it's now Tuesday and still freezing cold water not even lukewarm , just ice cold . We should have been notified before we checked in or the hotel should have given us some other options .|I noticed the curtains were filthy on Saturday but I didn't say anything but on sunday they were taken down and put back up cleaned . And don't even get me started on the mosquitos !! I understand that mosquitos are around but they were everywhere in our room . Thry asked us if we had opened the windows and we said no .. Flying around us in bed and my husband killed 4 in the bathroom the first night. Landing on the curtains , the lights, our faces. We finally asked if there was something they could give us for the mosquitos . The gentleman gave us some kind of plug in thing . Not sure if it helped because my husband killed one that landed on his nose . |They took one night off of our bill , but actually charged our friends 1. 50 for a bottle of water . There was still no hot water when we checked out Tuesday morning . I don't even think they would have compensated us at all , had we not complained . Very...
Read moreWe had an amazing stay at this location. Our original booking was no longer available due to the Acqua Alta damages caused by the major flooding on the 12/11. So the hotel placed us in another room higher up. They went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, and provided us with all the information we required to keep us safe and comfortable, during the stay, due to the increased prevalence of flooding. The attached restaurant was amazing, and the staff very helpful, and friendly.
Everything was well priced, the rooms very warm in the Autumn period, clean and beautiful. We stayed with our 2 kids and they were great catering for the kids diets in the mornings.
Staff were always on hand to help answer questions, provide advice and guidance. I will quite happily return and visit this hotel next time I am in Venice.
It was a short walk back to San Marco and Rialto areas from this location. However Venice has so much more to offer then just these spots. It was just a very short walk to the main vaporetto stops where you can easy catch a ferry to Murano and all the other islands.
The hotel, which is normally not flooded with the average Acqua Alta events. Did experience some flooding with the exceptionally high tides caused during this period. The staff were amazing and simply just move what needs to be moved higher as required. And clean up the moment it retreats, and reset.
Thank you for a...
