We spent eight days in Venezia and ate at 16 different restaurants for lunch and dinner including a Michelin star rated trattoria. If we had one night, we would save our appetite from lunch for dinner to eat at Alla Corte ristorante. I only found this restaurant through Google map as it does not have a website. Alla Corte has not been found yet so reservations were fairly easy off season to acquire. They were also able to accommodate a few walkins. I am sure within a year this will not be the case because it will be found by a travel blogger or Michelin critic, so you might want to book ahead if you’re planning a trip just to ensure that you have their dinner one night. We spent over three hours there as the Italians do for dinner, and it was our most pleasurable evening food experience we’ve had since we were in Sicilia. The staff were always observant and shared responsibilities especially our wonderful and engaging waitress who ensured that we had a relaxing evening. The owner happen to be there and was attentive to every table in this small ristorante as you might expect from being hosted at his home. He is obviously artista a tutti even took the time to pick up his bass guitar and play music, which did not dominate the atmosphere and was beautifully done through what looked like a framed picture (see picture). This was particularly impressive because we have not been to a restaurant before with live music that was quiet enough to still have conversations and as well done as they performed-bravissimo 👏🏽.
Yes I know, I will get to the cuisine. We had a traditional four course dinner with antipasti in season softshell crab or moeche, primi two variations of their homemade pastas cooked perfectly including a form of tagliatelle with a grande and divine white truffle hand shaved over it, and for our secondi the whole branzino prepared for three covered and cooked in salt, which was presented by our waitress and the owner. They broke the salt, filleted the fish, and separated it for each plate beautifully. It was like if your cuisine was an opera, and this was the final act! Standing ovation 👏🏽👏🏽 We also had our closing dolce finishing with a divine chocolate and hazelnut mousse, along with locally made grappa using an aerator to help bring out the digestivi effect and flavor. They do have a limited wine selection, but I would recommend the house made wine because it is always a treat to enjoy a wine you’ve never tasted before. Anyone who has a negative review for this place is questionable and might want to consider another dinner here. It was like getting a Michelin star rated experience without the price tag or feeling uncomfortable like we have felt before. Our 8 year old daughter was given coloring pencils by a nice member of the staff and the waitress and owner treated her like a principessa. By the way she’s was not drinking grappa in the photo, it was apple juice! We have other restaurants that we liked, but I especially wanted to make sure I wrote a review on this one we loved in the heart of romantic Venezia. We were so thankful to happen to find this right around the corner from where we were staying on our last night and off the beaten path of tourism. Bravissimo and salute 6342...
Read moreWe just visited this restaurant for dinner today, we visited yesterday on a walk in basis but were told that they were full. We decided to make a booking given the positive reviews here on google.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman who seated us. We soon discovered that the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. We thought that we would adjust during our meal - however, we were dripping with sweat by the end of the meal.
There was live music playing throughout the night, we enjoyed this and thought that it was a nice touch.
We found the service to be friendly but inattentive. After being greeted in a friendly manner, we surprisingly felt neglected in comparison to other customers.
We noticed other customers being shown to the front of the restaurant to see the fresh pasta being made; the man who initially greeted us also brought out several trays of fresh, live seafood to the table next to us, and was showing the customers the produce. Although I may be incorrect, It appeared that the man knew the customers personally and was treating them favourably. We did not receive such attention and we found this disappointing.
We ordered our starters and received them in good time. Following this, it took 40 minutes to receive our mains. We felt that this was too long. We also noticed that the customers next to us received their mains much quicker than this. Again, we believed that they were receiving preferential treatment. This continued to when we wanted to pay the bill. We waited 10 minutes for this and although this wasn’t as long as what we waited for food, the issue wasn’t so much the time waited, but rather, the lack of attention and eye contact from the serving staff. Again, we noted that other customers were receiving much more attention, when I was raising my voice while requesting the bill and still not being noticed.
Despite the disappointment of the service provided, we were incredibly impressed with the quality of the food. We could not fault it and throughly enjoyed it. Also noted that the dishes were reasonably priced in line with other restaurant prices in Venice.
To summarise, I would recommend this restaurant for food without a doubt. However, our experience today was totally let down by the service. We only stayed in Venice for 3 days and time is of the essence. We didn’t want to spend it not being noticed as paying customers, like everyone else. It is a shame as we thought that the restaurant had the potential...
Read moreUpon being seated at this lovely restaurant at the time of opening, we were greeted by the chef/owner, Rami. Rami is clearly very passionate about his use of high quality ingredients and about delivering a unique dining experience for his guests. He brought around porcini mushrooms to the tables and explained how they had just come in from Tuscany this morning. He sliced a fresh mushroom and allowed us to try it. He then explained what meals he could use them in and how he could serve them as an appetizer. Rami informed us that the pasta was prepared by himself today and that all meals are put together at the time of ordering so he can take requests. We ordered the fried Tomino cheese for appetizer. I ordered the sea bass substituting the artichokes for those lovely porcini mushrooms for my entree and my mother ordered the fried fish. Neither of us can ever complete 4 courses in Italy but if there was any restaurant that we wanted to it was this one! There were so many good choices. My waiter brought by a glass of sauvignon blanc instead of the house white to best pair with my meal. The appetizer and my food tasted incredibly fresh and the carefully chosen ingredients of each dish came together perfectly. My mom really enjoyed her fried fish. Rami came back periodically to check on us or crack a joke. He was seen attending to each table and I overheard him tell another guest that he considers his restaurant his home, and thus, the people that visit, guests in his home. A live musician serenaded us while we ate. This has thus far been my favorite meal and favorite dining experience in Italy and I recommend it highly. Thank you for the love you put into your food, Rami and thank you for having us...
