The museum is gorgeous and a must visit. The review is for the new cafe only: Well, i was excited to try the new cafe - featuring the "migrant cusine of the middle east" (according to the press release). I have frequented the old one - the space is just beautiful. Anyway, the first thing you see is a large A3+ red poster advertising a set lunch. It's a lunch time - but also Sunday, so I ask the restaurant owner at the counter - if it is indeed available. Sure - and he friendly inviting me to make a selection (a cup of rice and 3 "dishes", about a tablespoon each. Then, surely it's not the lunch advertised, it's double that, plus 2 euro coperto (never experienced that in a self-service cafe). Ok, that would be ok (this time) - but i very friendly tell him the "lunch poster" seems to be misleading, not to mention I asked... He immediately turns super agressive: did not i see it's only for the people who work there (indeed - in a font 1/10 of the rest). I say that it seems to be intentionally misleading (not to mention a few workers probably don't need this constant reminder). He gets mad, denies me the food. The large caffe space is completely empty (Sunday, high season). Incredible business acumen. I can't wait until this "affirmative action" enterprise fails and we can enjoy the space again. We don't need this kind of "bazar culture" here... Yes, i am a woman and do not look local and we spoke english - so clearly he knows what he is doing. Regardless of that - the food is a standard offering of hummus, falafel etc, miserable portions, food sits there all day(s) - while there are several places with fresh, plentiful middle-eastern food in the neighborhood. The place does not come up on google unless you enter the business name - otherwise the actual reviews would be there instead of several from...
Read moreWonderful small museum with beautiful art collection. The museum's first floor, including garden and staircase, is one of the masterworks of Venice-born Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978). The building was later renovated by Mario Botta (born 1943). I enjoyed the exhibition of Korean modernist Yoo Youngkuk (1916-2002), which fit extremely well into the Scarpa spaces. I also loved the new exhibition on John Baldessari (1931-2020), accompanied by a great video. And beautiful permanent collection including a masterwork by Giovanni Bellini (Presentation at the Temple). Nice café with outdoor seating in the garden designed by Scarpa. Great giftshop with lots of books on Carlo Scarpa. A "must see" for all fans of...
Read moreI did not enjoy my visit here for two reasons: I came here to see the current photographic exposition Venezia 1860- 2019 Fotografie dall'Archivio Graziano Arici and after paying our 25 euros we could not locate the exhibition we were later told at the desk it had been removed! They do not inform you of this on entry and do not offer a refund. I was very disappointed. Sadly the rest of the museum did not make up for my disappointment, the hovering staff in each morose room make you feel very uncomfortable, it was a total waste of money it was probably the worst museum and worst value in Venezia and I have been to most of them over four years coming here. Not...
