Ai pie del ponte — Restaurant in Venice

If you are in Venice and you won't eat here, let me tell you, you failed. It was the single best restaurant we ate in! Just read other reviews! The owner is just incredible! Serving was like from the most expensive restaurants, but the feeling is like you are a family with other customers and the owner. He is funny, he jokes with you while sharing with you his huge knowledge.

We got carbonara and pasta with clams. Both were delicious but the carbonara.. I had carbonara in a lot of places as it's my favorite pasta, the one served here was the best I've ever had! A true jewel of Venice and we got there randomly!

We were sitting just by the canal, with two small bridges in sight, candles lit on all tables, and we all enjoyed each other's presence. Damn, we even ordered another carbonara plate to share, the owner got it and gave us a plate with pasta and 2 plates for each of us.

My love had a birthday that day and we told that randomly while paying, the owner called everyone and started singing for her, we all did, all the customers.

My friend, Andrea, you are incredible! You made her day and we both won't ever forget that evening! Thank you for who you are and when I'll be back in Venice, you are the first spot on my map to visit!

5 stars is not enough. People, go and try his food, this climate. Trust me, you won't regret it!

As for prices it's not cheap but worth every euro! All was also according to the prices in the menu. For 2 carbonara plates, pasta with clams, 2 glasses of wine and 2 bottles of craft beers we paid 90 euro. You'll find cheaper, sure, but trust me, it is worth it!

Extremely confused as to what has just happened. Looked at the reviews before visiting and sounded good so gave it a try. We sat down the menu did look nice but nothing the stood out wasnt to sure and wanted to go look elsewhere however felt bad as he was doing it all on his own and thought I’d give him a chance. Took a while to get a drink which is understandable as I said he was on his own. The food came out I had sausage pasta not much sausage what so ever. Also had squid gnocchi once again not much squid €30 each !! When the bill came I couldn’t understand as it was scribbled on a piece of paper so I asked him to explain as at the bottom it said €6.50 x2 I know there is normally a coperto but is normally €1.50 to € 3 per person not €13 for a couple. As it was so expensive I asked if it was a service charge and if it was optional then then got aggressive and accused me of not paying a called the police!!! A rare Gem in Castello. If you are lucky enough to find, this place is exceptional. First, if your go to drink is an Aperol spritz, stop reading this place is not for you. Ai pie del ponte is a one man show, run by a master and wonderful host Andrea. Chef, sommelier, waiter, barman, and dishwasher extraordinaire. Location is off the beaten path, we came twice during our two week stay in Venice and both times were an epicurean delight and wonderful evenings. The wine list is outstanding, from Italy, all naturals, méthode ancestral, petnat's, biodynamic, macerations, etc and mostly all available by the glass . With excellent recommendations by Andrea. They also have a well curated selection of beers, ciders, gins and other spirits. The food is also remarkable, menu changes daily, it is a cuisine du marché and of the moment, outstanding charcuterie and cheese selections as well. All of this at surprisingly reasonable price.
