Nestled amidst the cobblestone streets of Verona's historic center, Locanda Ristori beckons with an unassuming elegance that promises a delightful culinary adventure. Under the masterful guidance of Chef Marco, Locanda Ristori elevates traditional Veronese cuisine to new heights, transforming every dish into a symphony of flavors. Our culinary journey began with a trio of antipasti that showcased Chef Marco's creativity and passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients. The Millefoglie di fiori di zucchina was a delicate tower of zucchini blossoms, their sweetness enhanced by a rich ricotta filling and crispy fried layers. The Tonno in Coniglio, a playful interplay of textures and flavors, featured rabbit confit with roasted red peppers and black olives crumble. The La Mozzarella in Carrozza, a classic revisited, elevated this humble dish to new heights with its perfectly golden-fried exterior yielding to a heart of molten mozzarella. As we savored these culinary creations, we were captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance of the restaurant right in front of Teatro Ristori. For our Primi piatti, Chef Marco presented us with two masterpieces that further solidified our culinary admiration. The Spaghettone tiepido Tartare di Tonno e Limone was a symphony of simplicity, the al dente spaghetti perfectly complementing the delicate tuna tartare, its freshness accentuated by the zesty kiss of lemon. The Risotto all'amarone, a regional gem, showcased Chef Marco's mastery of risotto, the creamy rice infused with the rich, velvety notes of Amarone wine, each bite an explosion of flavor. As the grand finale approached, we eagerly anticipated the dessert. The Sbrisolona ricotta e amarene, a traditional Veronese dessert, was a delightful indulgence, its crumbly almond crust perfectly complementing the sweet ricotta filling and tangy cherries. The Tarte al limone con meringa all'italiana caramellata was a citrusy delight, the tart lemon filling balanced by the sweetness of the caramelized Italian meringue. Throughout our dining experience, we were graciously attended to by a team of attentive and knowledgeable waiters, their passion for the cuisine evident in their recommendations and service. Locanda Ristori is more than just a restaurant; it's an ode to Veronese culinary heritage, where tradition meets innovation in a symphony of flavors. Chef Marco's artistry, combined with the impeccable service and charming ambiance, elevates Locanda Ristori to a must-visit destination for any discerning palate seeking an authentic taste of Verona.

Ristori was very good! Staffs were friendly. I tried the Pastissada de Cavall, a very old dish created during the time of Theodoric, king of the Ostrogoths. I also tried their Cacio de coffee with veal belly, a variation of Cacio de pepe I believe. I liked the idea of adding coffee in and the feeling that we are feeding the cow with sheep milk (cheese) and for sure their tiramisu. They helped me with choosing the red wine for pairing with the food. Overall a fantastic experience.

Excellent service and atmosphere. Food was well intended but boring. Whole fish looked impressive but so bland with no butter, no salt, no flavour, dense and rather dry. Sides were boring - pickled, sliced red cabbage and potatoes, no creativity at all. Pasta looked good from other tables but secondi were disappointing.

Locanda is a top-class restaurant. We stopped by at lunch time with the hope of finding proper but not too trad italian food.

The result was beyond our expectations. For 12 euros each, we had a generous pasta - i had tagliolino with shrimps and lemon peel, my partner had the orrechiette with guanciale and chanterelles -, foccacia/bread, sparkling water & coffee!! Such a great quality/quantity/value can not be beaten.

The owner seems also dedicated to picking nice local wines and beers (organic white & ipa from Trentino are a must, yet with soft prices) and happy to share.

Last but not least, the venue is soothing - really not far from the main streets but far enough not to feel overwhelmed by the crowds - and has space. A great time!

We can only...

I know how often you hear “best meal I ever had” in so many of these reviews. But I was completely blown away by this dining experience here, starting with the location…just off the “beaten path” in the piazza of the local teatro. It was quiet, the tables were beautiful set, the service was amazing and then came the meal. From the amuse bouche, 2 courses ( Maccheroncini of fresh pasta, chanterelle mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella cream and Beef cheek braised in Amarone and soft potatoes) through to the dessert…quite simply one of the best meals I have ever had. Please check out this undiscovered treasure before everyone else does. You will not be...
