GRAN CAFFÉ (Bar Verde) — Restaurant in Vicenza

I have lived here for about five years, and I’ve been to this café three or four times in that time frame, and once again, they did not disappoint. They were just as rude and slow this time as each of the previous. You would think that I would learn LOL. This place seems to cater to the one-time visitors to the city. It took almost 12 minutes for anyone to even notice that I was sitting at a very prominent table, and then when she did take my order, she was rude. I tried to pay when the waitress brought my coffee, but she just mumbled that I needed to go inside where there were already seven people waiting in line to pay. What a waste. It would take very little extra effort to take someone’s order in less than 10 minutes, smile and be nice when you’re taking their order and simply take their €1.30 when they want to pay. I guess they are simply relying on the fact that they have a good location on the main drag and don’t really care about providing a good service because it does not seem to...

Very good pricing for coffee and pastries The waitress was gentle and nice Unfortunately it seems the owner (I assume as she was the elder amongst the staff members) made me pay more than what they advertised. The board said cappuccinos were 1.80 each, but somehow I ended up paying 2.10 for each... I said nothing out of courtesy and because it was just 60 cents so it makes no difference, but they should either update the board or be more careful. Ci sono stata tante volte, più per comodità e per la posizione (che è carina, all’aperto, su una piazzetta), che per il servizio o la qualità. Ma sinceramente credo che non tornerò più.

Come in tanti bar italiani, la pulizia non è proprio il punto forte: spesso bisogna chiedere di pulire il tavolo, oppure aspettare che qualcuno si degni di farlo. Ma la cosa che davvero dà fastidio è che portano bicchieri e tazze scheggiate. Non so se non se ne accorgono o fanno finta di niente, ma servire una bevanda in una tazza rotta è semplicemente inaccettabile.

Il cibo? Deludente. I loro “insalatoni” costano anche 13€, ma la qualità non giustifica il prezzo. Per quella cifra mi aspetto qualcosa di più curato, più generoso, più interessante. Qui invece prendi una base di insalata mista con due pomodori (8€), e se vuoi aggiungere tonno o altro, devi pagare 1€ in più per ogni ingrediente. Ridicolo. In altri posti, con 9€ ti danno un’insalata completa, con mozzarella, tonno e tutto quello che vuoi.

Il personale… lasciamo perdere. Ultimamente ci sono due donne nuove, che sono tutto sommato gentili e sorridenti, ed è un sollievo. Ma il resto dello staff è un disastro. E in particolare la proprietaria: una signora anziana. Superba, altezzosa, mai un sorriso. Ci si può trovare ad aspettare 5 minuti in cassa solo perché sta chiacchierando con un’amica, mentre la fila cresce. Nessuna attenzione per il cliente, a meno che tu non sia un anziano signore che viene lì da 50 anni.

Un’esperienza che lascia sempre l’amaro in bocca. E no, non per il caffè. E anche il cappuccino non è buono. Solo un crema caffè...
