Il Capriccio — Restaurant in Vieste

Not worth the hype. I’ve been to many restaurants and without a doubt this was the worst service I’ve ever experienced. From arrival to departure, you’d get better service just about anywhere, I only give 2 star for the food, which was nice, but didn’t live up to the price, hype or expectations.

We’ve booked via The Fork (which they use) and on arrival I was told our reservation didn’t exist, and that they always have issues with The Fork - not my problem, don’t use it then? After much persistence we managed to get a table, but people in the same situation behind us didn’t, so dont use The Fork for booking if you must go, but honestly I highly recommend choosing another location to eat!

The service was slow, inattentive and really careless. There’s slow and then there’s Il Capriccio. We’ve only managed to order after 45 min, and the wine arrived well after 1hour after we’ve been seated - whilst we saw the bucket just sitting on a waiter station for well over 20 min. Anything we needed, had to ask at least twice and were lucky if it ever arrived. Bread plates, 2 of our party never received them after several asks, from ashtray to wrong wine twice, I could go on and on.

Our mains were served whilst we still had dirty plates from the starters, and we were expected to clear our own plates, I don’t mind if I’m paying €20 this was €300 dinner.

There is one waiter for 60 covers, what on earth is the management of this restaurant thinking? That’s too much even for a cheap restaurant, let alone this.

The food itself ranged from ok to great - but was it wonderful and warrant a return visit? Definitely not. We didn’t try the dessert as we couldn’t wait to get out of this restaurant.

The setting though is beautiful right out into the marina, and it is really sad that it is wasted on this restaurant.

The bill of course didn’t arrive, so we had to venture to the reception. Where a receptionist/manager acknowledged that the service was really bad herself and didn’t even say sorry. Tried blaming it on a the Fork, but darling, you don’t allocAte enough staff - what do you expect? It’s your fault, not the booking platform.

I was incredibly disappointed with this experience, and the food sadly wasn’t enough to lift up the spirits and the experience.

Avoid this restaurant, there are many more to choose from in the area and it can’t be worse than...

Quando si sceglie di cenare in un ristorante segnalato dalla prestigiosa Guida Michelin, le aspettative sono naturalmente alte, sia per la qualità culinaria che per il servizio e l'atmosfera. Tuttavia, la nostra recente esperienza al Capriccio è stata una delusione totale, contraddicendo ogni nostra aspettativa.

Fin dal nostro arrivo, l'accoglienza è stata fredda e poco professionale. La cameriera assegnata al nostro tavolo si è mostrata sorprendentemente scortese e priva di professionalità, posando i piatti in modo brusco e inappropriato, un comportamento inaccettabile in qualsiasi ristorante, ma ancor più in uno presente in una guida che dovrebbe segnalare eccellenze culinarie. Inoltre, abbiamo assistito a conversazioni tra i membri dello staff caratterizzate da un linguaggio volgare, che hanno ulteriormente compromesso l'atmosfera. Per non parlare poi della presenza dei piatti dell’antipasto non sparecchiati per tutta la durata della cena.

Nonostante le ripetute richieste del maitre, il pane è stato servito insieme al primo piatto, una tempistica del tutto inadeguata. Inoltre, al momento del servizio mancavano le posate adeguate, costringendoci a richiederle più volte. Questi errori indicano chiaramente un servizio ben al di sotto degli standard richiesti da una guida così prestigiosa.

Se il servizio è stato deludente, la qualità del cibo non è stata da meno. Abbiamo iniziato con un calamaro insipido, privo di qualsiasi carattere distintivo. Il polpo servito era duro e gommoso, rendendo la masticazione difficile e sgradevole.

I tagliolini con ricci di mare erano dominati dall'aglio, che copriva completamente il sapore delicato dei ricci, che avrebbero dovuto essere i protagonisti del piatto. Gli spaghetti con astice, invece, erano insipidi e privi di personalità, ricordando una semplice pasta al pomodoro piuttosto che un raffinato piatto di mare. Quest’ultimo piatto, come potete evincere dallo scontrino, è stato servito come metà porzione a persona alla modica cifra di 45€.

L'unica nota positiva della serata è stata la presenza del maitre, persona capace, sensibile e professionale, che ha cercato di risollevare la situazione omaggiandoci una bottiglia di vino, gesto che abbiamo apprezzato molto.

Purtroppo, la titolare, nonostante fosse stata avvisata dal maitre della terribile situazione , non ha mostrato alcun segno di gentilezza o comprensione. Al contrario, si è dimostrata scortese e saccente, criticandoci per le nostre lamentele e insistendo che non fosse a conoscenza di tali criticità, affermando inoltre che lavorano bene da anni senza ricevere mai critiche.

In sintesi, la nostra esperienza è stata estremamente deludente. Il servizio scortese e maleducato, combinato con una qualità del cibo sorprendentemente bassa, ha reso la nostra serata un'esperienza che non vorremmo ripetere. Dare una stella come recensione a questo ristorante sembra davvero un regalo immeritato. Ci auguriamo che la direzione prenda seri provvedimenti per rimediare a queste gravi carenze e riallineare il livello del ristorante agli standard che la Guida Michelin richiede e che i clienti...

The location of this place is amazing. It is situated in the port of Vieste. This is one of the two restaurants with the Michelin Award (in my opinion not deserved at all) in Vieste. As for the food that was nothing special. We ordered appetizers and the main course. There was almost no fish in that. As for the dessert, it was kind of fruit yogurt with crunchy layers, tiramisu was not traditional ( I can understand because it's Michelin restaurant and there must food innovations), but it tasted like ice cream. The service is not on the level of Michelin. The only thing that is on the level of Michelin are the prices which are really exaggerated. The bottom line is that there a lot of restaurants in Vieste where you will eat delicious fish ( real fish not just a tiny piece of it) at...
