Hostaria Il Sacco Fiorentino — Restaurant in Volterra

We found this restaurant with 4,5 stars and we booked. But the experience was grotesque. The waiters have no clue about the dishes they surviving ( the were looking for Bruchato red wine very famous in the list of white wines, but after he found it he brought chianti 🤦‍♀️) woter came after first course, which was ravioli and they came still frozen and they changed them back. Most funny was the main course: our meat they brought to the table next to ours, and after sometime they literally stole it from them and our meat were walking around from table to table they didn’t know who was ordering ( I thought, hope it’s not ours) but it was our food and we ask how many tables it passed already, so they took it to the kitchen and after 3 minutes they brought it back to us 😩 what to do we ate it. Wild pig was very dry but the beef cheeks was good. From the outside, the place doesn't shout at you; it piques your curiosity little by little. Then you enter the dining room and it feels like being in a well-maintained old Tuscan house. Each table a bit different from the others, though everything has its own understated, old-school-meets-refined coherent Tuscan style—a good start ;)

The quality of the dishes seemed very, very high to us and within the Tuscan tradition (with some pleasant reinterpretations); we felt at home. Recommended: the "pici all'aglione" (the best in town, IMO), Florentine steak, and wild boar. Great food, excellent drinks, and a lovely evening overall. We'll be back for the rest...

Perfect evening outside on the terrace. The food was outstanding, I had the zucchini carpaccio with a tofu dressing (had to try), brilliant. I had the Trinka, Pork Chop with spinach and cannellini beans. I very rarely eat pork at a restaurant because it’s often overcooked but this was easily the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten. The service was very friendly and efficient we really enjoyed their professionalism and engagement. The wine suggestion was perfect. We were there last month but the delay is fine, as among the great meals we had in Tuscany this was the standout. We would have eaten there every night if we had stayed longer. Many thanks...
