Honestly, I really wanted to love this place. I’m vegan and was thrilled to see a vegan restaurant in Tuscany, particularly considering how amazing the produce is here. But the food, with one exception, was… okay. The chapati starter came with whole wheat pita, emphatically not chapati. The gnocchi and pizza were fine, nothing special and certainly nothing special in Italy. The cheese on the chef’s board (21€) was indeed delicious, unfortunately the only memorable thing that we ate, and the board generally kind of disjointed. Nothing on the menu seemed as fresh vegetable forward as I would have expected. Most of it was vegan equivalents of Italian classics, such as pizza and pasta, which needs to be executed very well to be impressive. I would’ve been happier with a nice salad with the vegan cheese.

It’s too bad, because the owners were clearly passionate and provided great service, and Tuscan cuisine/ingredients can lend themselves to amazing vegan food. I admit that I am spoiled as a vegan in a major North American city, but this was distinctly okay. Particularly given that we were in Italy, it was...

Without a doubt, Life Bistrot is among the top vegan restaurants in Italy (and in Europe!). My wife and I had dinner there and also lunch the day after, in order to try as many items of the menu as possible. Every dish is top notch, made with fresh organic ingredients, very tasty, presented extremely well, and even balanced from a nutritional point of view. The owner is a fantastic person and always willing to explain all the dishes and even the history of thr restaurant and the associated hotel in town. Personally I would particularly recommend the pici (especially if you like pepper), the seitan which is otherworldly, and the melanzana "alla parmigiana", but make sure you don't miss the desserts! If I could give this place 6 stars out of 5, I would. I hope I'll...

This restaurant is much more than a restaurant - it's an absolutely wonderful experience. Enrico who owns it with his wife is magic. Everything comes from the heart, everything is thought about, every little element comes with care and consciousness. Plus the restaurant is built over Roman ruins that you can see through the glass floor. The food tasted wonderful, the menu is beautifully curated, the organic red wine is like something one can only imagine and more and more of the food that they serve is actually grown in their garden. Vegan or not, this is an absolute must. Thank you Enrico for sharing your heart and passion with us. We would love to share the...

A fully plant based restaurant that went above and beyond to provide an amazing meal for us on our trip to Volterra. I would reccomend everybody who is vegan or likes vegan/vegetarian food and wants to visit Volterra to stop at this place. The owner was super friendly and made us feel so welcome. The dishes were creative and really nicely prepared. The athmosphere at the restaurant is also very nice with a terrace outside and really cool floor where one can see the archeological relics under the transparent glas floor inside. I would always go back when i am back in Volterra! 👍👍💯

The only ALL vegan restaurant currently in Volterra according to Happy Cow and well worth a visit and for GF vegans. A good range of healthy plant based options - a la carte and buffet options available simultaneously. Reasonably priced. Staff super friendly. Pros - good for GF vegans - seasonable menu inc interesting local items - off the beaten track but just 😎 - buffet options Inc vegan pizza so good for smaller kids - situated on an archeological site which is visible through glass floor Cons - your missing out if you don't go! I can easily recommend it !
