We ate here on a slow Thursday afternoon, so I can't say much to other times such as during the festival or even a weekend. It was one of the few places that were open through the lunch/dinner break, so we ducked in here right around 4PM local time. For a chain restaurant, you really can't complain with Ootoya. I ordered the grilled chicken and leek box with udon soup, and it slapped hard. Good char on the chicken, udon was simple but tasty. The family had our dinner here for the first night at Aomori. It is a trusted chain of restaurant for us. Extensive menu offering seasonal changes as well. This time round, they were having the oysters as a special seasonal item and we ordered it. It was fantastic! Crispy on the outside and moist in the inside.
