Atami Ichi Sushi — Restaurant in Atami

Nice experience.

I and my friend came here before the firework in Atami. We are foreigners so we just ordered one set for each person.

Sushi: The fish is fresh and tasty, much better than the one we had Tokyo (which is already good). The piece of sushi has proper size, and the fish sticks well with rice so it is easy to dip in soy sauce.

Service: The chef was so nice, he tried to tell us the name of local fish in our dish. The staff only includes two grandma and grandpa. Grandma can speak a little English.

Atmosphere: The restaurent is small and has limited seats. It seems most of customers are local and old customers, they all know each others. There are tourists also, but not many.

I saw previous reviews and there are some bad ones several years ago by tourists. However, from our experiences, the restaurant is adapting well with the fact that more and more tourists are coming to Atami. On the other hand, tourists should respect their local culture and norms, like make proper orders (please don't come in as a group and just order one portion 🙄), some basic Japanese...

I stay awake at night wondering if I'll ever have seafood this good again. If you are in Atami, and fail to come here, you have made a terrible mistake.
