I love going to Enoshima and visiting the shrines and the shoals to watch the ocean come in and hopefully get a view of Mt. Fuji. This place opened up sometime ago (2018?) and has made my visits even more enjoyable--the building was sitting abandoned up until this place came in. Great food and a clean, simple environment with a great view of Fujisawa and the ocean. A basic menu that typically includes a choice of a pork belly, fish or fried chicken dish. There are lunch features as well that are very good. My girlfriend and I usually order different dishes and share. I love the sweetness of the seasoned pork belly most of all. They have great coffee as well, which is how I end each visit.
Everything is in Japanese but if you learn a few words in their language ordering shouldn't be a problem. And don't be a loud, obnoxious baka gaijin if you do come in to eat here (hint to foreigners, Japanese don't like loud people in their eating areas, unless you're in a private room with a group of people. Shut up and be polite). There are enough of those fools in Japan already. Keep the volume...
Read moreOne of the most unwelcoming dining experiences Iâve had in my 7 years of living in Japan. âą Despite plenty of empty tables, we were made to stand outside in the heat for no clear reason. âą When we were finally allowed in, the owner insisted we use his hand sanitiser, even after my friend explained that I carry my own. In hindsight, we shouldnât have explained ourselves. It was utterly humiliating. âą His authoritarian attitude was reminiscent of the worst parts of the pandemic â rigid, dehumanising, and frankly, it made me feel sick and I immediately wanted to leave. Itâs preposterous to lecture adults about hand hygiene, especially when many people are allergic to alcohol-based products. Instead of treating guests with basic respect, the owner behaved as if we were unclean. We chose to walk out â no meal is worth that kind of treatment. There are far friendlier and more professional establishments nearby. I recommend supporting...
Read morecaveat: no photograph allowed inside the restaurant, so don't join the queue if you intend to take some pics.
edit: I just noticed that many other visitors have posted pics, I can only assume that others didn't follow the rule, instead of that the owner imposed different rules on us.
obviously taste is a subjective thing but few of us were unimpressed by the food there, they were simply too sweet. Another thing is that the staff there said no photography inside which I find rather unusual for a restaurant. I completely respect these rules however it was rather strange that there was no sign of no photograph anywhere but I was advised no photograph only after queuing 30mins and right before entering. I might not have joined the long queue if I knew no photos allowed inside because the view of the restaurant is def one of the main...
