We visited GohGan for our wedding anniversary. It was our first visit but everything from service to food was beyond our expectations. We chose a private room for dining, so it was like our own private heaven where you could just relax and enjoy the amazing food. The restaurant itself is very spacious and has an outdoor dining area also.
We had mackerel tostada, pork and beef kebab, fried chicken, roasted beef w/ fries, roasted lamb and chicken curry with rice. For dessert, we shared a crème brûlée and a banana pound cake with caramel ice cream.
Everything was well seasoned with Indian and Asian twists, we were especially blown away by how flavorful the beef lettuce tacos was. I’d never tasted anything like it in my life before, it was one of those experiences. The lamb was also delicious and I might have liked it better than the roasted beef, which has never happened to me before so that says a lot. But they were both amazing. The chicken curry was not too spicy so that was good because I can’t really do spice but the chicken was so flavorful and full of umami. Lastly, I’d like to know how to make such a decadent banana pound cake cause it was just so good.
The staff was amazing, especially our server who explained the dish in detail with such care and class each time. She made us feel so comfortable and we were able to enjoy our meal in peace. Also, I’d like to thank her for offering to take pictures of us, it was so nice of her:)

Read moreIt's really good value given the names behind the restaurant and worth a visit. However, I am not sure people who rave about it would be doing so tasting blind if not for the chefs behind it. Not that it's bad, it's really pretty decent, and one of the better non-Japanese meal options in Fukuoka.
We had the omakase dinner and added some a la carte. Some courses were interesting, although it didn't feel there was a "flow" in the experience. What really stood out for me, while it seemed simple, was the corn mousse + uni (I don't even like corn). The light sweetness of the corn enveloping the briny umami of the uni brought out layers to savour. Very smooth together. Ceviche had way too much dill (can't taste anything else) but still tasty, meats were sub par. Torimon+foie gras dish was interesting, but felt oddly placed, since it was so sweet like a desert but too rich with the foie gras to be so. The hyuganatsu helped to cut through that somewhat. Maybe a smaller portion as appetizer. Crab curry rice was nice, and even a bit refreshing with the fresh onions (vs cooked in) but nothing life changing. There was a spicy omelette dish a la carte that tasted a bit like junk food but that was Fantastic. Creme brulee tasted really burnt. Overall, I think theyre still figuring out the Indian/Asian/French combi since the place is pretty new. Oh yeah 3* for service because it's just like eating in any bar kinda service and sometimes also hard to even...
Read moreVery disappointed. Earlier this year I visited Gaggans Mexican-Indian restaurant in Bangkok and it was one of the best culinary experiences in my life.
In contrast, almost every dish of the 10 or so we had at GohGan was disappointing.
Bread balls with yogurt sauce - highlight of the evening. Crisp and delicious. Corn foam - too sweet and weird consistency Mackerel - lacking something, I guess acidity. We added the yoghurt sauce from above and it was much better. Crab curry - too many onions that weren’t cooked enough. They kept a crunch and overpowered the dish and hid the taste and flavor of the crab. Foie gras - overly sweet and weird consistency. Ceviche - decent but also lacking something to make it special Lamb - good Croquettes - ok but ordinary Chicken and mushroom pie - ok but ordinary
Nothing was particularly bad but given who is behind this restaurant, extremely disappointing.
Service and atmosphere was also lackluster. At Ms Maria and Mr Singh (the Mexican Indian restaurant mentioned above) you were made to feel welcomed. Here we were sat down and ignored. No welcome to our restaurant speech no suggestion for aperitif. Again not really bad service but disappointing.
I would not go back and cannot...
