Torimabushi — Restaurant in Fukuoka

We want to make a reservation so we tried tge set dinner.

The soup broth is really good. Friendly reminder to either take the chicken out as soon as possible or eat quickly to avoid overcooking the meat in the pot.

Chicken meatballs are highlight. What are some soft bones mixed to create a unique texture.

Also enjoyed the rice. Grill chicken on the top are made perfect!!

For dessert you have frozen strawberries with condensed milk. What a treat.

Please note the staff doesn't seem to speak a lot of English so please have patience they're very friendly.

For a quick guide: For the chicken soup You have a bowl for the chicken and food. There is a cup for you to fill with soup and drink.

4 steps recommend

1. pour some soup in the cup to try its original taste
2. there's some ponzu vinegar and other spices to customize the soup for your own taste buds
3. add in the vegetables and mushrooms and stuff to cook in the soup
4. for a fee, add udon noodles to the soup

Be a little bit careful with the fire as you don't want to burn up the soup too fast

For the chicken rice. Very similar

1. chicken rice as it is intended to be
2. mixing spices, wassabi, etc
3. add an egg ( not sure if there's an extra cost to it cuz we didn't get one. And we were too full to try anyway)

Writing this review after standing 10 minutes outside the restaurant and getting the ignored cold treatment from the staff. They put a big sign outside to tell you to come in as they have vacant seat but yet once they realized u have no reservation, their attitude turned cold and told us to wait outside and left us standing out in the cold for 10 minutes and nobody even came to check and ask us how many pax are dining. Restaurant has lots of empty table but they want to give hype by making people Q to show as if they have booming business.

Regardless of how good the food is, the poor and bad attitude of the staff speaks volume about their food.

I will not recommend anyone to dine at this poorly staffed restaurant. They are anti foreigner and definitely racist.

Look out for the waitress with extremely poor attitude wi the red...

Chicken hotpot & teriyaki. I had the teriyaki-- a bowl of chicken teriyaki rice(don) split into four ways to enjoy; first you eat it the way it is, then add spices for extra flavor. On the next quarter you top it with onsen-tamago(hot spring egg). Finally, you finish the rest by dipping it into a rich and creamy chicken consommé. Every element is well thought of, the concept is rather innovative, and the price is reasonable. No wonder people calling it the next big thing in Hakata! (English menu with pictures available. Host does NOT speak English so you might have to figure out the instructions...
