🍣 Ichii Sushi – Authentic Omakase Vibes Near Yakuin, Fukuoka
Walking distance from Yakuin Station, Ichii Sushi (いちい寿し) is that rare sushi spot where local charm meets serious skill. Small, warm, quiet — just the kind of place to relax and let each piece of sushi shine.
🌿 What to Expect:
Counter-style seats only. Limited space, so it fills up fast.
The owners are an older, experienced couple. Very local. You’ll feel it — the way they welcome and prepare things with care.
The sushi quality is outstanding. Fresh fish, clean flavors, and each bite well balanced. It’s not flashy; it’s honest.
Try the eel sushi if available — locals say that’s a highlight. Something special for Fukuoka. (If they have it that day.)
⚠️ Things to Know:
Because everything is small-scale and local, variety is more limited. Menu is focused.
Price is okay, not cheap, but worth it. Just don’t go in expecting a huge roasted-fish buffet — you’re there for precision over quantity.
💡 Pro Tip:
Go early evening or make a reservation if possible. Sit at the counter. Watch the chef’s technique. Order sake or maybe a small drink to pair. Let the pace be slow. That way each piece tastes better.

Read moreI wanted to try Omakase for my birthday and looked up a restaurant on Google Maps. This one had lots of praises from previous customers so I bookmarked it. I visited on a Thursday, just 10mins after opening and there were only three other customers. I had no reservation, but the lovely owner (the wife) told me to take a sit. The husband let me know until what time I can stay, which was about an hour and a half, but I was only there for less than 30mins.
Apart from the omakase, I ordered cold sake, which was strong but good. At first I didn’t feel the hit, but I was so tipsy before I left 😆
The sushi assortment was so fresh - best sushi I have ever eaten my whole life! I couldn’t pick a favorite because I honestly didn’t know what the other fish were, but everything tasted so good! I ate with my hands and enjoyed every piece.
The 8-piece sushi omakase cost 2,500 yen plus tax. Meanwhile, the cold sake was 700 yen plus tax. It was a great experience! I’m in Japan now and I’m seriously contemplating...
