Lately, when it comes to tonkotsu ramen, I've started to feel like less is more. The perfect tonkotsu for me just focusses on perfectly cooked noodles, balanced broth, and excellent but minimal toppings. Ramen Tyson makes a seriously fancy bowl of tonkotsu with their 特製 (tokusei) bowls. Beautiful pork in two styles, and every other topping you could ever ask for. So I was lured in and went for it. However, I found that, aside from the pork being wonderfully cooked, each of the toppings were sub-par in flavour and seasoning and added little to the bowl. As for the stars of the show, the broth and the noodles, they weren't standouts to me either. Don't get me wrong - they are both good. But just good. The broth is relatively balanced (but, as I got the 濃厚 (rich) broth, which is their signature, it was more towards the thick and rich end. But definitely not overly so. I would say that if you want great tonkotsu in Hakata, there are a lot of better options. Especially at this price point. Overall a...
Read moreIt was terrible experience I’ve ever had. They gave us 4 people table and we were 3 adults and 3 kids. I asked to use another chair to seat there were lots of tables and chairs besides us but they said they can’t do that. Who would think that 6 people can fit in 2 tables? So literally 6 people seated in very tight in 2 tables. 12 year old boy seated in the middle of table where all the sauces, spices and menus. Can you imagine? I should’ve take the picture of him. It was very uncomfortable when we were eating but we just did bcz we were so starving from the trip today.
The taste was not as good as what we expected. Yatai tonkotsu and the spicy ramen(forgot the name) is just okay not recommended for people who are coming with HIGH EXPECTATIONS. I would rather go to ichiran or shinshin ramen. They are much much better. I won’t come here ever again. Not only the taste but the experience of...
Read moreWe were looking for a ramen spot around 8pm on a Friday evening and went to 2 restaurants with very long lines before coming to Ramen Tyson to find no queues. Luckily the other places were busy because this was the best ramen we had ever had.
We both ordered the special pork ramen which was creamy, rich and a little bit Smokey from the char siu - everything we love in a broth. The pork was cooked perfectly and just melted in your mouth.
We also ordered a side of fried chicken, which again, was cooked perfectly. Super crispy on the outside, while the inside was juicy and tender.
We had the calpis chuhai and yuzu chuhai which were the perfect refreshers to accompany our...
