The hotel itself the great. Just stone throw away from Hakata Station. Room is small but very clean. However I had a very bad experience with one of the staff. I wanted to leave my luggage for 2 days so I enquire if it is possible. I specifically said I will not be staying in this hotel but will come back to collect 2 days later. Staff told me it’s ok. So on the day of check out, I brought my luggage down earlier and the same staff received it with no questions asked. When I came back from convenient store, I was approached for my room no. I gave her and went back to my room. Then, when I checked out, which was 35-40 mins to my scheduled train, I was told that I cannot keep my luggage as I do not have another booking. I tried to explain that I have a train to catch and how could I find somewhere now to keep my luggage but all I got was a blank stare. When I was panicking and rushing to make arrangements on my phone, I got pressed by the staff to return her the luggage tag she passed me earlier on. The attitude was totally absurd. ||To the management:|Firstly, while I understand English is not a native language and miscommunication happens, I would have gladly accepted if the reply I got was a straight no to keeping the luggage due to hotel policy or “I do not understand I am sorry” rather than the situation mentioned above. I could’ve made arrangement elsewhere earlier. ||Secondly, in terms of staff service, when a staff sees a customer frantically checking in her phone, the last thing the staff should do is to ask for the luggage tag - is that really so important to collect the tag back?||Lastly, in terms of staff attitude, when a panicking customer tried to explain her situation, please train them to smile and apologise even if they do not understand or if possible offer solution e.g lockers at the train station etc. Instead all I got was blank stare which, at that moment I really felt the message given to me was “I can’t do anything about it, you suck it up yourself”. I believe the situation happened was not solely my fault, however, there was nothing apologetic in that stare and I did not even hear a single “sorry” coming...
Read moreSo we booked this room months ago. We always book a double bed room. However, we learned on this trip that most double rooms in Japan are very small-cannot even leave your suitcases out and open So during our 5 weeks so far, we made it a habit to ask the hotel if they would change us to a 2 twin bed room. We found these rooms to be more like the typical hotel room in the US. When we checked into the Wing International, they had no twin rooms to move us to due to the holiday weekend. However they indicated that they would move us if a room opened up. This morning they called us and told us a twin room was available and they would have it ready by 10 am! So, we are now in our new room for the next few nights. ||||The point of all this is to say that the customer service at this hotel is outstanding. Nozomi at the front desk was so gracious and accommodating. Her service and consideration was exceptional. Breakfast included was excellent with a nice salad bar and choice of entree.||||Location is excellent, just about 5-6 blocks from Hakata Station. Even though we are in our 70's, it was not hard to roll our suitcases from the train station to the hotel. Both rooms were clean but the double room was very small. Would recommend booking a twin room here for two.||||Would definitely stay here...
