I saw the red bean soup with 4 mochi on the menu and I ordered it. I waited 30 mins for my red bean mochi soup and it arrived without Mochi.
I asked them why there was no mochi in my red bean soup, they said they forgot. They took my soup back and I wait for another 10 mins.
They put two small pieces of very oily deep-fried mochi inside the red bean soup.
I also visit Hokkaido, I know there are not rice mochi, they are imomachi which was made out of potatoes.
I was confused, so I went over and again them, why do I have deep fried mochi in my sweet soup, is it normal?
They checked with the kitcy and came back and told me yes.
The soup was oily, super sweet and salty. It was just unpleasant. I had two mouthful and couldn't eat it anymore.
I noticed a guy behind me was having red bean soup, so I went over and asked him if he has mochi in his soup, he said yes. I asked weather they are deep fried, he said no. He suggested me not to ordered it, he said it was way too sweet to swallow.
I went to the counter again and asked them, why one customer's soup has deep fried mochi and one doesn't?
Now the staff said it's because they ran out of mochi, so they put "Hokkaido special mochi" for me. So basically they were lying to me before and now they acted like they gave me some special treatment. I said this is not right, you should inform your customers or stop selling the item when you ran out of one of the ingredients to make your dish. They said sorry sorry, we will refund you, ok?

However I ordered the small vegetable udon and rice cakes and both of them were really bad. The vegetables in the udon tasted sickly (old?) and the “Hokkaido special” rice cakes had no taste to them, just a very weak strange sauce. Pretty cheap for a ski resort, but I would stick...
